i've had a really bad case of discharge for the past 2 years, as many other people do i ignored it (for quite a long time) but now it's becoming pretty annoying. it's really smelly and i have lots of it. i feel pretty ashamed going to the doctors about it as it's not something to be proud about. is there anything else i can do?

If it smells, it's probably an infection. You DO need to go to the Dr. There is nothing to be ashamed of, they have seen it all and then some.

It's important, especially after becoming sexually active, that you take care of yourself and have regular exams to make sure your lady bits are fine and in working order.

Make an appt and go in, you'll be fine and you'll also get the medicine you need to get everything cleared up.

The Dr would probably do an exam. Get the typical, age, weight, height, temperature, blood pressure. Probably have you pee in a cup. And more than likely do a pelvic exam. He/she will probably do an external exam of your lady parts, then do an internal. Feel around to make sure your ovaries are in good shape and will probably do a pap smear, where they swab at your cervix for testing.

It's all normal and a process most women go through to take care of themselves. It is part of being a woman, yes, for some it is not a pleasant experience. But honestly, it probably is NOT as bad as you think it is going to be.

LanaBear is right. It's not going to be nearly as bad as you think, but every woman (and man) should get an annual exam - it's not the most thrilling thing in the world, but it's like so little time out of ONE day of the year.... let's just say, it's more thrilling than writing a mortgage check!

And adding to all that, it will be MORE than wooooorth it, to get that prescription for whatever you need to clear your infection up.
