I've had enough! I don't know what's wrong with my vagina! I had thrush for ages and nothing worked, then I finally got referred to a gynochologist who said I had an infection. So I was on antibiotics for five days twice, as they didn't work the first time (while I was on antibiotics I was also topping up my good bacteria regularily). But I'm still uncomfortable here's my symptoms:
    1) Discharge, can be quite thick, non smelly, yellowish colour can be a bit dark yellow at times, and has clumps in it.
    2) irritation which can be at the top of the vagina or around the opening
    3) sometimes it hurts to sit down
    4) sometimes I feel pain when urinating
    5) Pee can sometimes be smelly and dark
    6) Burning sensation around the vagina at times
Anyone? I'm so fed up and I'm only 18!!!!!! This has been going on since November its REALLY getting me down

it sounds like you have a yeast infection, which is completly normal. a lot of women go through life expereince none to a few, while others expereince infection after infection.

Its good that you have been to the doctors and are on antibiotics. Dont panic - it will take time to heal.

just make sure you are keeping clean and not using scented perfumes, bubble baths or soaps around the vagina.

I would suggest getting testing for all STIs if you've ever been sexually active and if you haven't been tested already an after that asking for a swab to be cultured in the lab to see what grows.

Antibiotics will NOT help a yeast infection/thrush in fact, they can cause one by killing off the good bacteria in your gut and vagina and allowing the yeast an open field to take over.

When I was younger I had an awful time with yeast and don't recall it causing a yellow discharge, it generally white and often lumpy, like curds. You may be dealing with more than one problem. You could have had an infection other than yeast/thrush and the anti biotics could have allowed the yeast to take off. Did the gyn say what kind of infection?

Try plain yogurt both on and in you vagina and see if that offers some relief? Taking sugar and any white flour products out of your diet may help too. Look up Candida and check you local health food store for products to help with that. See your doc again and get some clear answers on what you are dealing with.

I'm with you on that one WC.. Antibiotics cause me thrush every time, and I also agree as you know, on plain yoghurt.. Also to help relieve, warm baths with a couple of tablespoons of salt and lightly pat yourself dry...

If you are sexually active, and you have thrush and treat it, but your partner doesn't get treated with cream, then each time you have sex, he is passing it back onto you.

You both need to be treated for thrush before it will totally go away.

    To add:-

    Don't wear tight jeans.
    Avoid nylon knickers.
    Avoid stockings.

You need to breathe down there and those things above won't allow you to and will assist in keeping the problem occuring as well.

sounds like thrush and something else
get tested for ALL the STI's.

also make your partner get treated for thrush because CW is quite right - you'll just be passing the infection back and forth between you.
    antibiotics cause thrush.

    also drink more water
if your pee is dark and smelly it could be a UTI
    and drinking water will help.

it could also be the irritation is something other than thrush
because i had a weird thing with some complicated name i dont remember
that basically caused lots of itching and dry kind of whitish skin around there
i had a biopsy and they gave me some cream and that sorted it out.

basically its a verrrrry complicated eco system down there
and there are multiple things that can go wrong.

    start with an STI test
treat both you and your partner for thrush
buy yourself some femfresh or something of that nature shower gel and use ONLY that
because strongly scented, overly detergent soaps and gels can cause problems.
    drink lots of water
and if it still doesnt clear up
then demand to be referred to a specialist and have swabs and a biopsy.

    good luck x

thanks everyone but I know about anti-biotics and all the anti-thrush tips just nothing seems to work for me So annoying when people do everything to themselves and never get it and I try sooo hard to take proper care of myself! I took a tablet called Flucazole (or something) which has seemed to work, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Any irritation I'm feeling now I know is an ermm hair problem rather than anything else and I can't tell as I'm on my period but the discharge seems to have cleared. After I took the tablet I didn't have any the next morning (and that's when I noticed it the most). I'm still taking probiotic yoghurt might apply some to a tampon soon just to be safe. FINGERS CROSSED!
