Hi, i'm 24 and i'm not sexually active. About 2 months ago my vaginal area started itching. I didn't take it seriously and simply washed well and applied baby powder. But the itch didn't go away, it simply spread to the whole area around the vagina and the sides (start of the thigh) too. It's been itching since and i'm applying a general skin cream for the past 3 weeks (betnovate-n). It doesn't itch when i've applied the cream, but it start itching again in the evening, after which I reapply it. I'm quite dark aroung the area and thighs and there is a discoloration now, the skin starting from my vagina to the start of the thighs and some skin leading to the anus is a greyish coor and is very dry all the time, for about 2-3 days now, the itching has reduced, but the discoloration is getting worse.
I haven't seen a doctor yet, but i'm pretty worried about this. What could it be?

In my opinion you are worseing it by applying baby powder and a general skin cream, that part of our body is sensitive and it's not getting better, it's getting worse so stop that method.

You do not have to be sexually active to have a bacterial infection..

Tight jeans, nylon knickers for instance, can create "thrush" a common problem with women.

Down there we have to breathe and nylon, tight jeans don't allow us to.

There are other factors that can cause thrush.

Go to your chemist and ask for a tablet for thrush and take it.. It's one tablet that works within 24hrs and can't hurt you.

In the meantime, go and buy plain yoghurt ( natural yoghurt) and place that in the area, after having a warm bath with 2 tablespoons of salt.

If it doesn't work, then it is something else and a pap smear test by your Doctor will determine it.
