Red face First visit to gyno. Tips pls!

Good day, I am 25 and have only had sex with one man ever. I was on the pill for about 5 months but that made me depressed and I felt ugly so I stopped. I have a new boyfriend but I pitty the pour guy, I have almost no sexdrive and the once or twice we tried, It was so sore I stopped him. I get horrible pms and period pains and I am constantly tired.

I am worried that something might be very wrong and I want to go to a dr suited for the job but I've never been to a gynocologist and I am VERY shy about it. Could anyone give me some tips on how I can find out where the nearest gynocologist is, what I should expect and what I should ask? I think I'll be able to relax a bit if i'm prepared.

    Thank you

I'm not sure what to tell you about the first part of your post. A doctor will be the best person to ask.
To find a good GYNO, I've always just asked my girlfriends/ family who they go to and if they like their doctor. Or your primary doctor should be able to recommend someone good. I personally would rather have a female doctor, but I know they can be harder to get into to see.
When you do get an appointment the nurse will take your vitals and ask about your health. Then the doctor will come and go over why you're there and then should perform a pap-smear, which you should be doing yearly if you are sexually active. You should let the doctor know your past experience with the pill and ask if there are any other alternative contraceptives and the side effects of each. From there they should give you a few options that will comfortably work for you and your body. And don't forget that if you start using one and you don't like it or the side effects, you can always go back to the doctor until you find one you like.

The most important thing is to relax, remember they see vaginas all day long and that's what they chose to speciailise in so it's no big deal for them at all. For them it's like a physio looking at a knee or a dentist looking at teeth, just something they see day in and day out so you won't have anything they haven't seen before, countless times! Once you've been you'll realise it's not a big deal and us women just get used to going. You'll be fine!

try looking on yelp for a good one in your area or ask a close friend who they go to.

Its okay, their whole career is about dealing with different problems in different women. They are there for you to ask questions and make sure you are happy and healthy. I, too, am going to my first appointment this month and I don't think I'm an easy case either as I have been on so many types of BC. However, I know they will help make sure I get the right thing for my body.

If your body is happy, your mind will be too no worries. Maybe bring a friend for support if that doesn't help
