Hello all,
I know this may sound a little silly but i need to know what is normal when on a period and what is not. I have had problems since my first period when i was 18, i have been to drs on and off for ten years and most just fob me off. I need to know whether i should be forcing the issues or are they just what other women suffer from too.
My normal period last from 7 to 10 days,
They are what i call heavy, meaning i am changing my pads nearly every hour, having to wear night time pads during the day,
I cant not wear tampons as they hurt.
I lose clots from 1/2 inch to 2 inches,
I have terrible diarrhoea,
I have terrible pain when opening my bowels,
I have bad period pains,
Plus mild cramps though out my cycle
Periods are irregular,
Please advise me what to do, i am looking for any support anyone can give me,
Thanks
Jenny
Although we women vary alot in our periods I would definitely say yours are too heavy and exceptionally long. You shouldn't need to change a pad every hour even on your heaviest days. Clots are pretty normal and pain is too even bowel pain is fairly common in my experience but yours are very heavy. I think I'd go chat to your doctor about getting some birth control tablets to lighten and shorten them.
