You got to work those kegel muscles and strengthen them. I know WildChild is a fan of the kegelmaster, as am I. The stronger your kegel muscles are, the less likely this is to happen, plus stronger kegel muscles have other benefits as well.
Hello,
I'm new to forum... but maybe someone can help?
I've just recently, well, not recently.. noticing it now for the past 5-6 months that whenever I cough or sneeze..... I leak...... I know.. embarrasing!
I went to my family doc, and she suggested doing kegels w/ vaginal weights...or to use a pessary?
Any feedback?
Help!

...and pessaries?
People have suggested wearing pads as well? I'm not sure...!!!!
The kegel exercises should stop the leaking and avoid the need for pads, I'm not sure what the pessaries are for though. You definitely need to strengthen your pelvic floor to stop the stress incontinence.
I've googled "pessaries", and it seems like it's more of a quick fix...? It's hard when i'm running to have leakage too.. I'll start w/ the kegels as well... but I'm seriously considering this pessary.....! apparently for my condition, it's fairly common to have a pessary inserted!
How often should I do the kegels?
A couple of times a day every day initially, some slow contractions, fast contractions and endurance holds each session. Google pelvic floor exercises and it will give you numbers.
To really strengthen your PC muscles you need to use a resistance device to do kegel exersizes. I did unassisted kegels for years and while I'm sure they were of some use, when I started using a kegelmaster the difference was huge. Mine came with an instructional DVD. There are also vaginal weights that can help you strengthen the PCs. I do think it's a good idea to combine exersizing the PCs with also working on strengthening both your upper and lower abs - everything in the body is connected after all.

Hmm.. Thanks for all the input..
I've come across a product called uresta has anyone tried it? I do a lot of running as well, so maybe this will be the quick fix when i'm running and stuff?
I'm gonna start doing kegels..!!

I had some trouble with incontinence when I first started running and found that simply wearing a night pad did the trick until I had stregthened my PCs enough that it ceased to be a problem. Personally I prefer the simplest solution and the pads were annoying enought that it gave me more incentive to resolve the problem by doing more kegels.

agreed. I'm not a big fan of pads.. don't even like wearing pads when my "aunt comes to visit"..
I might try this uresta thing.. seems simple..!!
Keep you posted!
