I am 26 years old,had a baby 7 months back by C section.Recently had D&c abortion since protection failed. It has been now 52 days after the procedure and the bleeding has been start/stop .But twice I had heavy bleeding as a gush in morning with clots of golf ball size. The blood is red in color. This happened twice. My doc has given me following medicines
TREXAMEFANIC ACID COMBI TABLETS -3 /DAY ( heavy flow again happened second time after this tablet)
    ANTIBIOTIC
PRIMOLUT N- 3/DAY FOR 21 DAYS (Latest addition given to aid hormonal correction)

But I doubt whether this is a hit and trial method, since no test has been done. Can hormone correction drugs be given without prior tests. My history has been of normal periods even after my first baby.
In such a situation-what tests must be done before any drug/surgery is adviced like laproscopy/sonography/ultrasound/hcg test/hysteroscopy ??

Many D&C's are done so doctors know of the possible side effects that occur at later times. The reason they give these drugs is because it is for pure prevention measures. Sure they can do a bunch of tests forcing you to pay possible thousands of dollars if you have no insurance and wait months on end for them to be done...or they can give a common antibiotic and correction meds that they give countless times over. They do this sort of thing for ease of procedure especially when the meds are extremely unlikely to cause any problems. I am sure you could ask a doctor what tests you could have done soon anyway, just for confirmation purposes but they will likely say keep going with the meds while you wait.
