I had been having bladder issues similar to UTI, but real minor, not the painful gotta go NOW symptoms that I had from past UTIs. So I got one of those AZO test kits and it was positive. Went to the Dr. She said no UTI, but a yeast and BV infection. I have no itching, discharge, or odor. I have noticed for several years that I have some mild odor for a day or two after sex with my husband, but I never thought much of it since it would go away in a day or two, and it wasn't real strong. I had a pap just over a year ago and all was normal. Could I have had these infections for the last year or more and not known? Can they come and go? Meaning, could I have the infection and it resolve itself?
The Dr. prescribed me the one dose Diflucan pill for the yeast infection and clindamycin phosphate 2% cream for the BV. I inserted my first dose last night, and this morning have started my period, which is two days early. Should I continue the treatment? I generally wear tampons during my period and instructions say not to. Seems like trying to do this treatment during my period is a waste of time. Dr. office is closed.
Hmm... maybe you can find some sort of Nurse Direct line and talk to someone on there. I know what you're saying because the blood would sort of wash the stuff out. She may say to postpone it until the end of your period, or maybe to our surprise, the blood won't make a difference. Try that once. You can find some free Nurse Direct telephone lines.
