I've been diagnosed with BV and prescibed Flagyl, 400 mg, twice a day for 7 days. So far the symtoms have dissapeared, no discharge, odor or itching, but today is my last day and I'm worried that once I get off, it will come back.

Has anyone taken a second round of antibiotics if the first one failed? I bought some acidophilus as well to use afterwards to restore the balance, but I dont know if it will keep the bacteria at bay.

I don't trust antibiotics in general only because they tend to kill off ALL the bacteria, including the good stuff, so once you're off it you're basically back to square one.

Definitely take the probiotics, in fact it wouldn't be a bad idea to take them on a regular basis from now on in capsule form, plain yogurt, or whatever else contains it.

Usually they will do a second round of Flagyl and then start trying other meds like Clindamycin. Those are usually the top 2 choices for BV. Definitely be sure to take the acidophilus while you're on the meds; don't want to end up with a yeast infection.
