Sounds like a yeast infection to me, maybe one of the other ladies on here will be able to give some more insight.
I'm 20 years old and I've always had some kind of discharge. It used to be very light and clear. Now in the last few weeks it had been very thick and white. Last week me and my boyfriend were about to do intercourse and he stuck his fingers in me and when he went to pull them out his fingers were covered in white discharge like he stuck his fingers in a jar of mayo. It doesn't itch or anything it's just very heavy and with a sour smell. I went to the gyno about 3 mos. ago and they noticed I had alot of white blood cells in my discharge which meant my body was fighting against something. The gyno went to analyze it and she said there was nothing abnormal. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with me?![]()

Sour smell and WBC sounds more like BV than yeast. Yeast would have a cottage cheese consistency and burn or itch. If there is no irritation, I'd say BV, mainly because I currently have BV and the thick discharge and sour smell are my exact symptoms.
Did you gynecologist ever send out a culture 3 months ago and did she look at it under a microscope? You said she said there was nothing abnormal, but if there are WBC and you say it smells, she should have been able to do a whiff test and take your pH to see if it is BV. I'd go back to the doctor and get it checked out. You may also want to consider starting a probiotic such as FemDophilus or some other brand of acidophilus to help re-establish the good bacteria, if in fact it is BV (especially if they put you on meds, it'll help so you don't get a yeast infection)
Are you sexually active and do you use condoms? Sperm can throw off the pH of the vagina, as can scented products and soaps and even certain brands of pads.
What exactly is BV? Yes the gyno looked at it under a microscope but it wasn't this bad when I got tested 3 mos. ago. No it doesn't burn or itch. Yes I am sexually active and we rarely use condoms.
BV is Bacterial Vaginosis. It's when you get an infection from some sort of bacteria down there, and it throws your vaginal flora out of whack. It's quite common actually. If STDs can be ruled out, I'd definitely say it is BV if you aren't using condoms. As I said before, sperm can throw off the pH of the vagina. Usually with BV, the vagina is more acidic and the bad bacteria flourish. You'll need to re-balance that and fight off the bad bacteria. Antibiotics from a doctor are your best bet. Shouldn't take more than a week or two to get rid of if you don't have any underlying condition.
Are there any anti-biotics that i can take that are over-the-counter?
Ok. Thanks so much! I've made an appointment to go to the doctor next Thursday. I really appreciate you responding to my post..you've really helped alot!
