I went to the dr yesterday after having severe pain on my left ovary. During the exam I nearly jumped off the table in pain during the pelvic exam so he scheduled me for an ultra sound today. The person doing the ultra sound showed me my left ovary on her screen and it was enormous... she compared it to the right one and the left was extremely larger. The dr came and talked to me saying I had a hema(something) cyst and sometimes these cysts will resolve themself and sometimes they dont... if mine is still there next monday hes schedualing me for surgery.
Now I have had plenty of cysts in the past... none of which have caused this much pain (i cant even walk!) and im wondering why is my left ovary so enlarged? Does the cyst cause my ovary to enlarge like this? My right ovary had a small cyst as well but it wasnt enlarged and I have no pain on my right side... when he does the surgery what is he doing? just removing the cyst? I know I should have asked these questions when I was in there but they didnt come to mind till after i left
