Hi, I'm 19 and a virgin, and recently I've noticed that my vagina is actually directly next to my anus, underneath what should be the perineum (but what I assume is the hymen; forgive my lack of anatomical knowledge if this is incorrect). I've noticed this because I've been trying to insert tampons, but I've yet to succeed in doing so because there is a thick skin over the entrance. Where I tried inserting at first was just above the hymen and I found myself getting frustrated because I'd continually hit the pubic bone. I figured not so long back that this was just because I was a virgin and the hymen was thick and it would maybe break if I kept trying or if I had sex, but now I'm not so sure, since if I press down on the perineum, I can literally feel the vagina opening underneath it. Also, when I urinate, it tends to go diagonally instead of straight down, unless I lean forward. It's almost like all my skin is too far forward over the organs. At any rate, is this a normal thing? Is it just that my hymen is extremely thick after all? Should I go see a doctor about it?
