    Default Cervical Biopsy

Okay, so last Novmeber I went to the doctor for coloscopy and biopsy because one of my Pap Smears came back abnormal. The doctor who did the biopsy, told me that nothing showed up on my results of the biopsy and I did have to go back for a follow-up appointment 9 months after the first time. So I went back for my follow-up appointment today.

Well, the nurse said they would just be doing a Pap Smear, and that they would only do a Biopsy if my Pap showed abnormal cells. Well, it did again so i had a Biopsy done again. Well, it seems that I have abnormal cells and it is HPV related. I asked her if it could be cancer or genital warts and she said no, that it is just abnormal cells which normally go away on there own.

But I am still worried that it could be something more, she gave me a pamphlet to read up on it.
Does HPV affect getting pregnant? If it was Genital Warts, they would know when they did the pap right? I have all these questions and would like somebody to talk to about this to get some idea of what it is.

The vast majority of HPV goes away all on its own. Your body just takes care of it. The world of pharma has worked really hard at creating a near panic over this. Who does that benefit?

The truth is that there are a zillion things that can cause an abnormal pap. They include vigorous sex, many forms of exersize, tampon use, just basically living without your legs crossed sipping tea.

I used to get abnormal paps all the time. Usually if I waited a few weeks (having recently had a pap can cause an abnormal pap) the next one would be fine. I've been biopsied a few times without any whoop'dee do. This was back before we had created HPV as public enemy number 1. I've been around the block a few more times than you have and am HPV free. Have I ever had it? I dunno know, probably, given my history but we didn't have it on the list when I was younger so I didn't have to worry about it. Eat healthy, exersize, drink plenty of water, have sex safely, get well woman checks and don't sweat it. 99% of the time your body will take care of you if you take care of it.

Okay, thanks. I could be worried over nothing. I guess my mom and sister having cervical cancer makes me nervous.

I'm not saying not to watch it. Get check ups. Be as safe as you can but worrying won't help. My grandmother had it, no one else in the family has. Your doctor's practice sounds pretty reasonable, they checked and biopsied but are telling you that you are normal.

Okay, all I can do is take care of myself, eat well, and exercise. Worrying about this is not going to help me.
