Recurring Yeast infection or am i crazy????

Went for a follow up at the dermotologists office yesterday. I spoke with the derm and the pathologist who reviewed my biopsy. All was normal. The pathologist told me that nerve damage, or nerve impingements from the lower back can actually cause genital itch?? Isn't that crazy? Everything else has been ruled out with me at this point. I have been tested for everything under the sun, and it did start with a prolonged yeast infection. I was treated on systematic RX's for a couple of months, along with an extreme diet. I don't have the yeast anymore, but am left with an itch.....a mystery. I do have some lower back pain, but nothing really bad. I did some research but can't really find much on this condition that they are talking about. I also did research, and was thinking it was a yeast related hypersensitivy, delayed reaction, cell mediated. But to get an allergist to actually listen and understand this is challenging. I was tested for a yeast allergy, negative. Intradermal skin test. It sure is a mystery....

It is because genital arousal is controlled by nerves that connect to the sacral region of the spinal cord, located in the lower back. Damage to those projecting neurons can cause everything from paralysis to an itch to a constant tingle all depending on where and how much damage there could be. That is not to say any unexplained itch is due to nerve damage but the doctor is merely saying it can happen.

yes, it's called "neuropathy" just called my derms office to ask what they said this was called. But when I researched it, it said it's a common thing with diabetics, and I am not diabetic.
I think it's more the canditoxins as described in Trowbridge's book. the delayed hypersensitivty to yeast toxins. That sounds more like it to me.

OK, I'm pretty sure I have a hypersensitivity to yeast toxins. I've ruled everything out. Went to my gyno yesterday, and now am on maitance dose of diflocan, 1 weekly, but I was still itching. I took a zyrteck and bam, itch gone. Gyno didn't see any yeast this time, so I think we've got it all under control! Yeah!!! feeling good, and now feeling even better. Yes folks, we can develop a hypersensitivy, not an allergy, that is different. It is all explained by Trowbridge in his book, the Yeast Syndrome. (yeast guru) Not sure how I will treat this, as it will be impossible for a regular allergist immunologist to believe what I've gone through with yeast infections, the battle I've had. But I also learned that when you have a bad infection such as I, you can develop a hypersensitiviyt in the area that you were infected. this is the 3rd day I'm itch free, and well, may just have to take zyrtec..at least for now.

A few things come to mind. I'm assuming that you are sexually active because you are on BC pills. You need to have your partner tested for a yeast infection and/other tests (bacterial related) as you can pass these things back-and-forth between you. It's just the nature of the infection.
The second thing, I notice you are complaining of the itching. Take a mirror and take a look. Have you torn the skin when scratching? Is there pale skin around the vulva or peri-anal area. Is intercourse painful and is there any tearing when you have intercourse. Ask you doctor is there is any chance you have Lichen Sclerosus -- this can cause the symptoms that you are describing.
I have Lichen Sclerosus - it`s not nice in it`s worst form but is very manageable on a day to day basis.

my case is defferent thought or the same in a way i have discahrge problems its been a year now i did papsmear twice already results came back ok i took treatment for bacterial infection but still no change i am loosing it its so uncomfortable

OMG I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!! I'm 23 now and about 6 months ago I finally cured the never ending cycle of itch and just feeling "off"! I had it for over a year and it drove me insane .. nothing worked and I just wanted to smack the gynecologist since nothing they ever prescribed me ever worked. It really made life depressing a bit .. always CONSTANTLY thinking wow why do I feel like I'm the only one dealing with this. Nevertheless, one day at the drugstore I picked up Fresh Control intimate cleansing gel out of desperation (obviously thinking wow I'm sure this won't work). WRONG .. worked like a charm. One week later .. no itch, no annoyance, just happiness. Everything went right back to normal. Can you imagine my relief after a year of annoyance?!?!?! I <3 Fresh Control!!! If you can get your hands on it .. GET IT! It's worth every penny! Good luck girl!

JenniBrown, wow, that's a happy story! Were you ever diagnosed with yeast?? I have been looking for a product like that..glycerin free. I found a good one, but I think I'll look for the Fresh Control.
