Default Unusual Period and Ongoing Cramps

I'm trying to figure out why I am continuing to have mild cramps even though my period is finished.

Typically my period lasts 5 days and is heavy for the first two, then light and then spotty the last day. This month my period came one day late but was light for one day, then stopped, then spotted a day. Also I didn't have any of my normal pms symptoms. That was a little over a week ago, and this week I have on and off cramps that feel like light menstrual cramps. They also kick up when I have sex.

The only answer I have found online for these cramps was pregnancy. I just took a test today and it was negative, and besides an unusual period I have no other pregnancy symptoms.

Any ideas? I'm at a loss. I want the cramps to go away.

Same thing happened to me I was cramping like a week after my period, I ignored it then my next cycle came and same thing I cramped after my period for 5 days. Finally I had a cyst rupture which can happen after a period ends. Cyst hurt with sex. Maybe its the same thing for you, a ultrasound would show pelvic fluid if you had a rupture or if a cyst was still there or about to burst. Cyst are really common and usual arent a big issue unless they grow large. They can put you on birth control for it basically thats what they do for it. Sounds you could use some BC anyways to help your cycle.

Thanks. I'll look up cysts and talk to my doctor. I was on birth control this year from june until october. I stopped because I pretty much had absolutely no interest in sex while I was on it. This didn't make me or my boyfriend happy :P Before I went on the pill I was very regular. I would not look forward to going on the pill again

But thank you! for your reply ^_^

Yeah but you got to put your health on the forefront, and cyst are not fun if thats what it is. Sounds when you got off the pill the hormones started showing there ugly head..so its possible thats whats going on. But trust in that you would be lucky if it is just cyst and not fibroids or endo those are far harder to deal with. Maybe try a different birth control this time, and know that it will not 100 percent correct the cyst problem but at this time is really the only medical treatment for them unless large to remove I usual just deal with them. Good Luck!

    Hi,

Im new on here and iv just noticed your post, hope you dont mind me replying. I have the same thing and iv been worried sick. My last period was 5 days late (im not that regular anyway) it also seemed alot heavier than usual. I was on for my usual 4-5 days on the 5th day I had sex (i noticed a slight pain in my left ovary during) then for about 4 days afterwards I had a brown discharge which seems to have now cleared up, but I am still getting pinching/cramping around my ovaries its hard to describe but like a heavy feeling, almost like im due on but not as bad.

Its embarrising but iv also noticed iv got quite a bit of wind, im not on the pill, the dr has tested me for bacterial vaginosis and thrush both were fine, she also did an internal which was normal. Can I just ask if yours has now cleared up or if you have an advice, im really worried something is seriously wrong with me, thanks Lorna.

Its hard to say I mean anything from a bad ovulation cycle to endometriosis. At this point I would go on birth control see how I feel, get your hormones tested. Its not a cyst or fibroid or PID if you had a ultrasound if not get one. So endo is a possibility that would require a laproscopy, but this is still sudden so see how you feel in the next few cycles. Cramping and heavy bleeding is the main pinpoint to endo.
