Default BV - The Ultimate Permanent Natural Cure

So I don't know how I ended up with BV (bacterial vaginosis), but I have it. I am also on my period. My symptoms were just a watery discharge that smelled like ammonia. It was very frustrating though. My panties were always soaked as soon as I stood up.

I did a lot of research on BV and the natural cures. I don't have insurance at the moment and needed to find a way to cure it without going to the doctor.

Here is my Ultimate Permanent Natural Cure for BV:

    1) Homemade Peroxide Douche - 1/4 Peroxide, 3/4 warm water
I did this twice in a row while squatting in the tub.

    2) Take 2 Probiotic (Acidophilus) Softgels - 10 Billion CFU
One orally, one vaginally (I inserted the softgel with a tampon applicator while the tampon was still in the applicator. I just lifted up the tip of the applicator and placed the softgel in the applicator right on top of the tampon. Then I pierced the softgel with sterilized scissors and squeezed out about half of the softgel onto the tampon. Then I inserted the tampon in my vagina overnight. The tampon served as a plug to keep the softgel inside all night.)

    3) Take 1 Women's Multivitamin - Vitamins A, C, and E are important along with Folic Acid (Folate)

    4) Take 1 Garlic Supplement - 1000 mg

    5) Take 1 B-Complex Supplement - Vitamins B1, B2, B12 and Folic Acid (Folate) are important

    6) Sleep and let your body heal. When you wake up the discharge should be all cleared up and the smell should be gone. If it isn't, repeat step 2.

    7) Continue taking one each (orally) of the Probiotic (Acidophilus), Multivitamin, Garlic, & B-Complex daily for 30 days minimum.

I bought everything I needed at Walgreen's. All of the vitamins and supplements were from Finest Natural, a private label brand of Walgreen's. The peroxide was the Walgreen's brand in the brown bottle. The douche bottle that I used was a reusable, sterilizable one that I had but you could always buy a disposable vinegar douche and just empty out the vinegar solution and add the peroxide and water. I spent about $45 on the vitamins, supplements, peroxide, and tampons.

I hope this helps. (If it doesn't I suggest consulting your OBGYN.)

$45 bucks is more than just going to planned parenthood and getting a dose of antibiotics. Which cost me at one point maybe 10 bucks and gone in a few days. But I'm glad this worked may help someone who antibiotics won't work for or wants to try something natural.

Good post, chi. I think if our bodies weren't lacking in these vital minerals and vitamins in the first place some of us might never have gotten bv at all.

I used to have the same problem for many months and the doctor said it was most likely a chronic case of bacterial vaginosis. He gave me Metrogel and it would go away but then come right back. I didn't want to keep using Metrogel so I tried a more homeopathic approach and started douching with 1/5 cup of distilled water and 1/5 cup of peroxide once a day and upped my folic acid intake. It actually got remarkably better, however, when I would stop the douching it would come back. I finally realized that this is a ph balance issue and that maybe my water intake during the day wasn't sufficient enough to keep my vaginal ph as it should be. I started drinking 4-5 bottles (the 16.9 fl oz size) of water a day and saw an immediate improvement. I even stopped the douching altogether and am now just making sure I drink the 4-5 bottles of water a day and that alone has taken the problem away completely.

Totally agree with this above post. Probiotics especially are the way to go and peroxide. This is what I did and it worked:

Recipe to fight and possibly terminate BV:

-Eat 2 capsules of acidophilus a day (make sure it has alot of strains and Esp. "L. Casei")
    - take about 1/3 cup of boiled water and cool it off (just put it in fridge for 15 mins) and add 1/3 cup hydrogen peroxide. Now what I did because I didn't have an applicator was I soaked a tampon in the solution and inserted that in my vagina (some people have used a turkey baster as well to go up a little further). What this will do is create an acidic environment for the good bacteria (the ones in your probiotic capsules meaning the acidophilus ) to grow. The bad bacteria which is causing the smells don't survive in acidic environment they need alkaline environments so you need the acidophilus to maintain an acidic environment in your system to prevent infectious bacteria from growing.
    - I also took one of the acidophilus capsules and opened it and after removing the tampon inserted the capsule just a little and contorted my body so the powder would go into my vaginal cavity. This will cause good bacteria growth in there. Remember these capsules have live bacteria so they multiply and don't be scared those bacteria already exist in you, even in your digestive tract but it's just a matter of having enough of them. Some people just put plain yogurt up there but make sure it's probiotic yogurt. Not all yogurt has live cultures, although I think it's enough to eat the capsules and to apply a bit of the powder slight in the vaginal cavity

So I have only did all the above once and noticed a significant difference. I don't know how I got BV. I'm not sexually active and extremely clean. I even wash with water after I go to the washroom. Im very particular about smells and never had any smells down there so I instantly noticed the change (fishy smell) and started researching. Ladies the above remedy worked for me and a lot of women so try it before harsh pharmaceuticals. BV is not very risky and can really happen to anyone do don't worry you are not alone.
