Hi There,
So let me just start off by saying I look forward to talking with everyone and hearing advice and opinions.
I have two healthy children and our family is complete. My husband had a vasectomy 9 years ago. So we're done having children.
In 2008 I went on Depo because i had bad hormonal pains/mood swings etc. I decided after two years I did not want to be regulated by drugs. Which is where I'm at now.
I got off depo (with doc permission) in Oct. basically did not get my shot then. I felt fine no problems other than i didn't start my period for awhile. It finally came in March twice. April was regular, and May came so far so good.
In January, I started feeling nauseous, dizzy, sorta crazy aka moody and very tired. Not myself. I shrugged it off as a cold & recovering from Disneyland. In February Symptoms returned around same time. Again shrugged it off. I went to doc to have basic female yearly checkup. Everything was fine. Doctor suggested BC. I decided not to take it. In April, my symptoms got worse. Went to doctor who specializes in hormones. She said it sounds like I have an imbalance of hormones. To much Estrogen not enough Progesterone. So she gave me the natural losanges to put under tongue. They made me feel a bit better. They got my blood work back and my estrogen was 936 and my progesterone was really low like in the 1's ( not sure if its was 100's or by point, just low) So obviously first they thought I was pregnant which I'm not. So now they just have to do process of elimination. They're doing more blood tests now, but basically telling me I might need to take a BC to which I really don't want to do. EX> Lupron??? Either way has anyone else had high estrogen NOT trying to become pregnant and if so what worked for you? I'm extremely healthy, very active, and this is definitely setting me back. Not to mention i'm really concerned about my health. Everything I read says I'm pre Menopausal but my doc says I'm not going thru menopause... She also told me she's never seen someone with this high of estrogen (yeah nerve-racking) My mom went into menopause very early as well with major imbalances. They eventually balanced and now she is post menopause and fine 55. Anyone have suggestions cause I need them. I go back in a week and hoping I can have more info before I let them try and shove more BC's down my throat.
Hi! Welcome to WH. You may notice I moved your thread from the Intro forum the Gynecology forum. You may find other women with similar experiences that look at the Gynecology board but perhaps don't look at the Intro board. It seemed better suited here.
How is your weight? How about your digestion (regular bm's)? Whats your diet like?
One of the first signs of menopause is a drop in progesterone and an increase in estrogen. Yes, you're is double what the average woman going into menopause is.
Have you had any ultrasounds to check for fibroids or cysts that could be throwing off alot of estrogen?
I admire you for sticking to your guns to try to find out what is causing this. BC shouldn't be a bandaid...I don't blame you for wanting to know the cause. I'm not a proponent of hormonal BC, BUT I will say that long term estrogen dominance can lead to cancer, heart disease, stroke and a variety of other very critical diseases. It's possible that BC could be the lesser of the two evils here. Your body isn't made to handle that much estrogen.
Xenoestrogens are known as "endocrine disrupters" and are carcinogens we can come in contact with that can increase our estrogen levels. SOme examples are : Pesticides, growth hormones given to much of our poultry and livestock, plastic food containers, lotions etc There are ALOT of other ways to be exposed. Most of these things are things many of us are exposed to daily, so could it be causing your prob? Probably not, it's possible.
