Abnormal pap

Here's hoping it's nothing, but I got a call this morning about my results from my pap coming back abnormal. I'm going in tomorrow morning to do a biopsy. I'm kinda nervous about it, but I'm trying not to worry too much since I won't know anything one way or another until we do the next test & the results from that come back.

I did a little bit of reading online and found that there are a lot of things that can make a test come back abnormal. My Dr.'s assistant did the swab & she said she had done pap smears, but she was kinda new at it. I would really like this to be that she just didn't get enough cells, but in the back of my mind, I just don't think I'm that lucky.

I'm going to try and keep it out of my head until I have a chance to see what the Dr. says. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

I had an abnormal one once. Freaked me out. I called and asked for more info and they told me something like (it's been a long time so I don't remember exactly) my cervix was a bit enlarged but that could be caused from lots of things and they weren't highly concerned about it. When I went back for the next one, everything was totally fine. I remember at that time i talked to several other women about it and MANY of them at some point in their adult life had an abnormal pap.

Positive thoughts. Positive manifestations. All will be well.

From what I read, there's no reason to panic about abnormal results. I even read that everyone has precancerous cells in their body, and there's a list of variables that can cause abnormal results. The main reason I worry is that I came back positive with HPV on a pap about 2 hrs ago, I think. It puts me at higher risk, so it's hard to not worry at all, but mainly I'm just trying to put it out of my head until I find out more.

I wish I didn't get so nervous at the Dr. It makes it hard for me to pay attention to what they're telling me and ask the right questions. I used to make my husband go with me on appointments because he knows the medical terminology. A lot goes over my head and then I wind up just googling everything later. Lol. I'd make a list of questions to ask, but since we don't know anything either way yet, they won't have my answers until after the results get back from my biopsy tomorrow.

I wish my husband was going with me though. He has to work. I've been going to the same dr. for almost six years, so that helps a little.

My dr. had an emergency c section come up, so had to reschedule my appointment till next Monday. Hopefully I can keep from worrying too much. I really wanted to get back in and get the results, but in a way it's kind of comforting that they're not treating this as an emergency.

I had my exam and the biopsy earlier, and we won't have the results for about two weeks. My husband came home from work to go with me, so that helped a lot. I really love my doctor though. She did a great job of reassuring me. She said when she "painted" my cervix, she saw three little dots, but said it was not to worry. My husband was saying that when someone has cervical cancer, there's lots of little white spots and since I only had a few, I shouldn't worry.

We're moving in 2 weeks, but I'm keeping my doctor. She's worth the 30-45 minute drive. I would hate to start over with a new doctor I didn't know. For now, she said to make another appointment for a repap in 6 months. I'm glad we finally have insurance.

Funny story, my husband was talking to one of the doctors he worked with today about my biopsy. I think he said it came up because he mentioned using some of the ibuprofen they prescribed me afterwards. He was telling him about how a few hours after having it done, I had to walk a couple of miles to get our kids from school in 104 degree heat...(up hill both ways, with no shoes. Jk), and he jokingly told the doc that he had told me to suck it up and stop being a sissy. He said the doctor and every nurse in the room stopped what they were doing & gave him a shocked look. He had to quickly tell them he was joking, and the doctor said he'd get punched in the face for telling his wife something like that. He assured the doctor that I retaliate on him every Sunday during basketball. Lol. He seems pretty brave saying stuff like in front of all those women around sharp pointy objects. Lol

Gee I usually brag on my wife in public. Wow Crystal I pray everything goes well for you. My wife's mom had cervical cancer and it runs in her fam, so she is a high risk candidate as well. She goes back and forth between being dillegent about here check ups and not wanting to know, so I have to stay on her sometimes. With todays technology as long as you stay on top of it everything should work out fine.

Cervical Ca is caused by the HPV.It isnt concidered hereditary,like breast cancer.

The doc called a bit ago and said there were no cancer cells, but there were precancerous cells. She says they can heal themselves and we don't need to worry at this point, just get a repap in six months. She says I need to quit smoking too because it's like fertilizer to the cells. I don't know why it was so easy to quit during my pregnancies, but when it's for my health, it seems hard.
