    Default Advice about Chronic BV

Hey everyone! My question is about the sinister - yet all too common - infection, Bacterial Vaginosis.

Back in February of this year I started feeling a lot of irritation and itching, but my gyno said there was nothing she could do about it and didn't know what it was. I suffered on and off for months. Finally, at the end of last month, a different doctor diagnosed me with BV. The most likely cause we came up with was that the BV came from fingerplay with the new guy I've been dating. I suppose the original BV was from the guy I was dating back in February, but I digress.

The doctor gave me Metronidozole which caused pretty bad side effects, but seemed to make the symptoms improve a bit. However, a few days later, more fingerplay (my guy is a virgin, so we've got to improvise) caused my symptoms to return.

I'm very sanitary but don't use harsh soaps, I've never douched, I've tried eating plain yogurt, I've started taking probiotics, and nothing is really helping to keep the infection away. I'd really, really like to avoid things like using condoms during fingerplay. What a way to kill the mood!

The issue is that I can't go back to the doctor for another diagnosis/round of antibiotics because I no longer have insurance. I could go to the free clinic, but I have a feeling the antibiotics would just cause this same cycle to happen again anyway.
So, does anyone have any other remedies that have proven to be safe and effective for chronic BV? Thanks in advance!

the only way to get rid of BV is to get a prescription. dont let your boyfriend stick his fingers there anymore, its obviously doing more harm than good. antibiotics are the only way to get rid of bacterial vaganosis. i get this about twice a year and i know it isnt fun, but it happens.. if u tell them u had a bad reaction to the meds u last took, they will give u something else. for me, 7 day creams work best. i never liked the pill. never clears up anything for me. good luck
