Hello. I have been suffering from vaginal infections for around a year now. I had several bouts of yeast infections. Within this last six months I have started to have bacterial infections. I have been on sooo many antibiotics my stomach just burns. The only thing I can take is clindamycin. I am allergic to flagyl. I have weird neurological symptoms. The only thing I find really frustrating is not only do I have foul odor dischage and pelvic discomfort I have legs that are sooo sore from my lymph nodes swelling. I feel like I am at my wits end. I get headaches from it. Are these really symptoms of vaginal infections. When I tell my gyno this he kind of looks at me like I am crazy. From what I read women do not usually have symptoms, I do. My insurance is really bad so I have spend thousands of dollars for treatment. Is there long term treatment for this or am I just suppose to suffer. I also wonder if this could be a urological issue. I have had my urine analyzed and they have found nothing wrong. Thanks for any suggestions.

That's exactly what I've been doing. I used the oral capsules as a vaginal suppository; I know they are dissolving because about 18 hours after insertion, I have a tiny bit of discharge that smells exactly like the capsules do. I've had nothing but good results. I use Aci Jel 3-5 days a week, 1-2 Femdoph. capsules vaginally a week, and oral Femdoph. 1-2 daily. Still BV free for over a month now!

The company I ordered it from said that the shipping time isn't long enough to reduce its effectiveness. Also, I read that it takes a full 21 days for the lactobacillus to "colonize," so recovery can be slow. Your pH will normally rise before your period, so it's a good idea to up your dosage before then. Do you have strips to tell what your pH is running?

My pH is back up to 4.7, & I am having a slight smell with discharge, but I just had to have a round of antibiotics for a UTI. I felt like I was taking poison when I had to take the antibiotics. The antibiotics didn't work on the UTI, gave me a horrible yeast infection that took 2 rounds of Diflucan & a round of Monistate to clear up (not sure if it's completely cleared up even). And now, obviously the BV is trying to come back. I'm feeling really discouraged, but I'm trying so hard to stay positive. I knew the antibiotics would disturb the delicate balance I had finally achieved, & so it's 2 steps forward & 1 step back, right? Thank goodness for the Biofem.

I wonder about inserting a capsule vaginally at bedtime. Surely the capsule that is designed to melt in the stomach will melt in the vagina. I may try it.

ginger ark,
i've tried the hcl candaclear suppositories before with no success, i ordered them from rockwell nutrition and it was expensive too, i did some research on them and i came to find out that it is not the correct lactobacillus strain. the only correct strain is in femdophilus by jarrows. i use the femd vaginally and it dissolves fine, but if it doesn't for you (cause every women is different), you can empty the contents out and put it into a gelatin capsule. do it fast cause the good bacteria dies in warm enviroments.

p.s. i'm loving the bio-fem!!!!

Default want to get better!!

I been dealing with BV for about a year now and I have been reading all the post about the deferent things to take and I was wondering which is better Nature's way primadophilus reuteri or the Jarro-Dophilus+Fos? I have both of them but didn't know which one to take. And if anyone has heard of Sovereign Silver? It suppose to kill a lot of bad bacteria.

Thanks for any info.

P.S Thanks to all of you ladies for taking the time to write your experience, it has been so helpful!!

They are both the same for what you need. The important thing is that they have Lactobacillus Rheuteri and Lactobacillus Rhamnosus. These are the friendly bacteria found in the vaginal tract that have shown the ability to transfer from the digestive tract to the vaginal tract & urinary tract (i.e., they're the only ones that work when taken orally).

I cannot be sure, but I believe collodial silver might also kill friendly bacteria. Try doing something to change the pH instead. A more acidic environment will kill the bad bacteria & encourage the good bacteria. BioFem Active Gel has given me the best results. Occasional betadine or hydrogen peroxide douches can help but it's not very effective. Boric Acid suppositories have helped many women.

Despite my setback over the last couple of weeks, I just kept on with my treatment plan, upping my probiotic dosage, & things are getting back to normal. Somehow it's very confidence inspiring that I was able to bring it back under control after it got out of "whack" again.

I was thinking the other day that we have created a network of women helping women, teaching & learning from each other, & healing ourselves. Very cool.
