BV for 2 years now. Took Flgyll three times. More recently I've been keeping symptoms at bay with a B50 complex vitamin, Manjakat pills, but sometimes the smelly symptoms come back. When it has I've made my ph more acidic with Braggs brand apple cider vinegar douche. I like the ACV, but am interested in the Whey.

Detective Sarah, you said that it can be messy. Since you've started using it in pea sized ball inserts, how messy does it get?

    Thx,

    SS )

    Angelhalo,

YAY, Yes I am happily still BV free using the molkosan though now I am also using the 70% lactose Whey I found and will try and find the 100% stuff if I can.

How I use the molkosan is: I fill a 1tsp medicine dropper for kids (with a bulb on the end) with the molkosan, lie down, insert the dropper and squeeze it all in, i'm not sure how much actually gets in because a lot seems to come right out but either way it's working so I am happy I did experience some irritation in that area every time i've used it but it's always gone when I wake up and it feels normal again. The molkosan has gotten rid of all the symptoms that I had like the irritation and the smell (completely, the only smell I can detect is like detective Sarah said a milky smell, which isn't bad at all). As for the discharge, before I started getting BV I would always get normal discharge that smelled and felt normal (I think some women get normal discharge all the time like I used to and some don't, both are normal). When I got BV I got the bad smelly discharge that was thin and watery and irritating and no more normal discharge. Even when the BV seemed to be fixed for a while I still always felt kind of dry and irritated down there (just not smelly) but it wasn't until I used the Molkosan and the Whey that the normal discharge finally came back and I remembered after so long what NORMAL is supposed to feel like! I'm still taking one reuteri pill a day because I have a feeling this also helps insure that the good bacteria are there multiplying. The Molkosan cost me $10.95 for the small bottle and it says keep in the fridge, (which I do).

It's only been 3 weeks on this but as I said, it only came back after my period and was gone the day after I used the molkosan again!!

Oh, and i've been experimenting by only using it when I get symptoms just to see the difference because I knew detective sarah was doing it every time after sex, and it didn't come back after sex, I did not have to use it again until it came back right after my last period ended which was only 2 days ago so no sex yet since but i'll update again in a week! So so far it seems it is the best cure for all of us who have tried everything we can! Lactose!! Go figure, i'm lactose intolerant

    Red face hey everyone

    No it's not an STD.

Simplyspoiled; the little balls i made of whey powder make a tiny bit of creamy whey discharge on my underpants. but it's pretty unobtrusive. It is convenient for me to make a dozen or so little balls, and that lasts a fortnight or so and i can just pop on in. and it's portable - can go in a pillbox in my handbag when i stay at a hotel with my boyfriend (which is too often, he likes it, i like my own home- go figure).

RedBerry - that's wikked you sorted it out. I would like to get that molkosan but i'm not sure i can get it here. I would like to hear more of your experimentation. So impressed.
But the Whey's fine, it works.

And after my exams I hope the rest of my life falls into place because it all seems like a miserable mess - apart from not having chronic bv any more

i went to the doctor a few months ago after having irregular periods, he sent me to do a few tests to find out what the cause of this is. Upon receiving the results of the tests only one showed any signs of what could be happening. The diagnosis was that i have baterial vaginosis and he explained to me what that was. I was treated for it with antibiotics and they worked well. My problem now is, the same problem i had with my period is here again with a new development as far as i have noticed. I have noticed that my period has completely stopped. and all that i have done is to have oral sex and whenever i had an orgasm, about an hour or so later i would start to bleed as if im having my period again. I need to know if anyone ever had this problem and how to cope with it.

    Javalene,

I have never had this type of problem. This is something that should be reported back to your doctor.

First Make sure you have BV either from a visit to the doctor or a pH test Kit.

Heres my understanding of BV after many long hours of reading, sharing stories and trial and errors.
There are a number of species of bacteria that naturally live in the vaginal area and may grow to excess.. When these multiple species of bacteria become imbalanced, a woman can have a vaginal discharge with a foul odor or BV. Lactobacillus (Good) species of bacteria are classified as aerobic bacteria, or bacteria whose growth is favored by aerated, oxygen-rich microenvironments. Lactobacillus (Good) bacteria produce micro-quantities of lactic acid, which account for the moderate acidity of normal vaginal secretions. Lactobacillus (Good) bacteria are also responsible for vaginal micro-quantities of hydrogen peroxide, a compound that also appears to play a prominent role in protecting vaginal lining cells from certain kinds of infection.
Bacterial Vaginosis is brought about when the normal, healthy bacteria of the vagina are replaced by mixed populations of predominantly anaerobic bacteria. Anaerobic (Bad) bacteria tend to thrive in closed-off, relatively oxygen-depleted microenvironments. The anaerobic (Bad) bacteria which have been linked to bacterial vaginosis include Gardnerella vaginalis, Prevotella species, Mobiluncas species, Peptostreptococcus species, and Mycoplasma hominis.
When anaerobic (Bad) bacteria has replaced the lactic acid producing Lactobacillus species the acidity of the vaginal secretions will become significantly neutralized. The pH of vaginal secretions is normally between 3.8 and 4.2. Vaginal pH measurements that are above this range and especially those above a cut-off value or 4.5 have been defined as evidence of an abnormal vaginal condition. If bacterial vaginosis develops, the pH will be significantly increased- that is, the acidity is significantly reduced. If you’re not familiar with the pH
Scale, from 0 to 7 is acidic with 7 being neutral from 7 to 14 is alkaline.
My thoughts (just my thoughts) on treatment. When we are given antibiotics such as Cleocin, metronidazole (flygal), and Vandazole gel. Though some of these are designed to target the bad bacteria they will kill the bad as well as the good. When the vagina reproduces these bacteria the hopes are that the good bacteria will grow in greater numbers than the bad therefore creating normal vaginal flora. It seems to me this does not always happen or if it does its only temporary in some people like ourselves. Something has caused our pH level to be changed to a lower acidic level (more alkaline). Some women have relapses of BV after unprotected sex there’s also cases of virgins having BV so what causes this pH change is what’s not understood. Either way the lower acidic level is what the bad bacteria like they strive in that environment. Killing more of the good bacterial which in return reduces the lactic acid produced by the good bacteria making tour pH levels even less acidic. Our goal is to increase the acid to the proper pH
Some women have had success in douching with Hydrogen Peroxide. This creates an oxygen rich environment for the good bacteria to grow. Some have had success using Acidophilus, Folic acid, Boric acid and/or Vinegars (Acids) in many different ways to increase acidic levels.
What we on this forum have found to work is to use some form of lactose which is found in whey products to feed the good bacteria. The good bacteria use the lactose and will in turn change the lactose into lactic acid which will raise the acidic levels of the vigina. There are also products that contain lactic acid such as Molkosan concentrated lacto fermented whey. As well there are products that contain the proper levels of acid such as Acigel, BIO-FEM Instant Active Gel and others that are gels inserted to raise the Acid level. The ladies of this forum have had the most success using either of these two or the two in combination.

Sorry for such a long post but I hope this helps someone !

Red Berry... Your story sounds just like mine... I have tried everything and have also had this for about 4 years, so not quite as long but I have spent so much money on trying to get rid of this. Have you been using this everyday or did you just use it once? I would like to find something that would get rid of it for more than a day without having to use it every day. I have also tried those probiotics you are using but they didn't help me. I have tried all different kinds of probiotics and none really seem to help. I just ordered this stuff called candaclear from rockwellnutrition... They are vaginal probiotic suppositories. I have tried them before and they didn't do anything but i just wanted to try again because I don't think i have any good bacteria in there from using boric acid for so long. I also got these suppositories called vag pack by wise woman herbals..also from rockwellnutrition. Im going to try those too. I think I am going to try your solution though because your problem sounds like mine and if it worked for you it has to work for me... Hopefully. I hate when people try to tell us that Flagyl will do the job when we have already taken antiobiotics a hundred times so we know it doesn't work. I wish it was that easy. I think they might have worked if I went to the doctor right when I got this but at the time I didn't know what was going on and thought maybe it would go away on its own. I had it for about a year before I started doing anything about it. Can you post the link of where you bought your whey product? I'm not sure where to get it from. Thanks for all the info. Please let me know how you feel after you have sex... I would like to know if there is a fishy odor during and after.
