Hi ladies im a 23yr old African American with no kids an 1 steady sex partner. I have been living with bv for about 21/2 yrs, it has never really went away an this past year it has been very recurrent an hard to get rid of. I started taking the metronidazole back in November of 07 an it did nothing, went back to the doctor in December of 07 an again it did nothing, both times I was prescribed Metronidazole. At that time I didn't know anything about bv or probotics or anything other than the metro. So in January of 08 I started researching an reading up on bv an found out I was one of the many ones who has recurrent bv. It has really took a toll on my life since then, im not as confident an positive as I used to be sexual wise. Some of the things I have took include Metronidazole, Flagyl, Diflucan,Hydrogen Peroxide, Boric Acid, P robotics, Vitamin C, Folic Acid, B-Complex ugh the list goes on. I would love to give the Vitamin E a swing, I wanted to know is it possible to insert the Vitamin E pills vaginally instead of orally? My symptoms include smell(occasionally not as bad) an a horrid discharge that I just cant control. Also what kind of Vitamin C pills are adequate to insert vaginally I have the Spring Valley 500 mg from walmart can I use those. Any help would be greatly appreciated, an sorry for the long post which I still haven't covered but anywho. Oh yeah also I used to struggle with yeast alot but since July when i went an got a prescription for difulcan she prescribed me 2 pills an a refill I took the 2 pills as directed an yeast went away an I havent had a really bad yeast infrection since, I also take AZO Yeast pills daily they seem to help out alot, I hope this helps someone.

    Hi kdub08..

I've read that you can also insert vitamin E vaginally, but the capsule form..
For me taking it orally was enough..
    Good luck..
And about vitamin C, what I tried was vagiC sth. Ican't remember the brand, but the pharmacist will help you with it I guess.

My main concern is that I am on the metrogel now and I am also on my period. Is it safe to take the metro-gel while I am on my period?

Also, for the person who does the lactose/whey vaginally, do you still do that while you're on your period?

Help!!!! I am desperate and I really want this to go away. Im starting to think this is more than just chronic bv even though I test free of any std's.

Yes, it is safe to take the metro-gel during your period, although I don't think I would use it because I dont think it will help... It didn't help me at all and I used it about 4 times. I know how you feel, but you do not have more than BV if STD tests have been negative.

THank you for your reply. I am so sad that this BV will not go away. I hate it! I am on my period now and still using the metro-gel, however I think it is making me bleed. I am bleeding into my underwear but my tampon is not completely soiled. Gosh I know thats gross to talk about but hey we're all girls. I think...

Anyway, I am going to try the whey/lactose and probably vitamin C as well. It sounds like this isn't going to go away ever.

Hopefully I can at least keep some symptoms at bay so that I can have sex and not feel disgusting. Another thing I wanted to mention. With my BV I actually almost completely stopped discharging all together, my main issue is the pungent & disgusting fishy smell that I can smell through my clothes. It is not until I am on metro-gel that I actually have discharge and we all know what that is like.

    Any more thoughts....

Thanks for responding I will try the vitamin E capsules first an see what happens, then If that doesnt work(praying that it will) I will then try the vitamin C, or heck I might just try both at the same time, 1 orally an 1 vaginally. I havent takin any antibiotics since February of last year an that has seemed to help just a little. Thank goodness I dont have irritation, itching, an burning. Also on occasion when symptoms get really bad I will insert a boric acid suppository an that helps with the smell, I just need something for the discharge, an I dont want to keep using the boric acid forever just for when I have a really bad yeast problem or something, thats why im going to give the vitamin E, an C pills a try. Thanks ladies)

i know what you mean...I hate it do and I don't think it will ever go away. It makes me very depressed because no matter how many showers i take in a day i never feel clean like i used to. I just don't understand how everyone says to not use perfumed soaps or sprays on your underwear because I did it for over 20 years and then this happens. It doesn't make sense to me and I feel like that isn't what causes my problem. The metrogel did make me bleed too and I had big chunks of skin coming out from it. I tried the vitamin C and it made me have big chunks of skin comig out too, which really looked scary...Not just skin but some kind of thick tissue. I am using the milk sugar right now, which does not seem to be helping me either, which makes me even more sad because so many have had good results with it on this forum. Have you heard of cryotherapy for BV? I wanted to ask my doctor about that because 1 lady said it cured her and she has been cured for 2 years with it. No doctor has ever mentioned this treatment to me though for it. I just ordered a pill on amazon called body mint that had good reviews, not for BV but just all body odor and I wanted to see if it did anything for the BV smell. It was kind of expensive though, like 20 dollars for 60 pills. Keep us posted on your symptoms and with anything that helps you.

    Dear Angelhalo
I am very supprised to hear, that the milk sugar does not do it for you. We had a practical trial made, and all the women suffering from bacterial vaginosis said, that the BV disappeared or got much better. Some but not all reported improvements on yeast infection and dryness.
Are you sure your dosage is sufficient? LadyBalance has a dosage of 1,2 g, and even most users do not need that much, in the beginning of the cure it may be need to use two / day. If you use a powder, 1,2 g is quite a large amount.

I feel the itch it is annoying... we had protected sex.. but whats the diffrerence between BV and yeast infection?
