I put a vitamin C tab in last night but it must have been the wrong kind because this morning it hadnt dissolved at all and i felt really irritated. I;ve also been using tea tree oil suppositories but those also really make me feel uncomfortable and I think it just masks the odor and doesnt eliminate it, but they do help lessen the discharge which is usually white and sticky. Those are the only two symptoms I have but they are with me most of the time. Ive taken antibiotics 3 times since last year and it always comes back after my period or just out of the blue.

I just got some flagyl but before I take it I want to have some good probiotics lined up so I can try to get myself back on track. Does this make sense to anyone? please send me a message if you can reccommend a good one.

Good luck everyone, reading all your posts made me feel a lot better, like Im not the only one dealing with this sh#t

    ;-)

I wrote on this thread ( i think page 8-12) last year telling of my experience. It has been a year since I have been BV free and I cannot tell you how greatful I am after having had sufferend from it for 9 years. Thank God it has not come back though I am aware it can at anytime.

I really believe that placing things in the vagina is not the real answer. In the UK, the advise is very much against putting things in there. You are more likely to wipe away the bit of good bacteria you have left so how will you bring back the good bacteria if it has gone for good? lactobacilli is good but you need the form that will pass through your gut wall and to your vagina where you need it. On top of that, making sure all after care measures are used. I wish you all the best, I know things work differently for people but I hope what ever you try it works for you.

To storm85 I really don't like to recommend something I haven't used myself but from reading on a couple different sites I heard about a product called Femdolphilus by Jarrows an I have been wanting to try it but because of financial reasons couldn't, I will definitley try it in the future when cash is right but until then im maintaining with home remedies and vitamins. It is supposed to have the two strains of good bacteria that reaches the vaginal tract. I had a few people say that it helped with continued use an one lady who said that it cured her, don't quote me on that though since everyone is different an what works for me might not work for you. If you order it make sure you order it with an ice pack an keep it refrigerated so the good bacteria will stay alive. Anyway if you have any questions please feel free to ask

Default Heres what seems to work:

Hi all, I have been dealing with this problem too, since 2003 and went through the rounds of antibiotics (Flagyl, Metrogel, Cleocin (clindamycin). And as we no these things don't work and almost seem to make this problem worse. They have side effects, are irritating and then the BV seems to come back worse than before, especially after sex for me and I know for some after period. I have read all the posts here. I did take some advice here and I tried the Bio Fem Activ Gel which you order from Passion For Life and it is helpful. It is all natural and very healing because its main ingredient is Aloe Vera. I will say it was not a cure but just really helpful for irritation, itching and burning. I promise to anyone it will help with that. I of course have taken probiotics: the Femdophilus, Primadophilus Reuturi but it didn't help. I am taking other types of probiotics that have other strains of Lactobacillus because our systems are made up of all of these. Also tried inserting the probiotics vaginally. Didn't work. I bought the Molkosan but it smelled so strong I was afraid to use that. I hadnt been able to locate any whey powder or lactose milk sugar which was mentioned and I had been to a few health stores. Douche with a 50/50 mixture of half hydrogen peroxide (3% drug store type ) and half water. The white sticky discharge and the ODOR are gone immediately. Hydrogen peroxide kills bacteria. You only need to do it once or twice, not everyday and it really works. I don't know yet if the BV will be gone for good but for now it is like a miracle! The other thing you need to do in conjunction with this is to take Folic Acid (orally) twice a day. I take 800mcg in a.m and p.m. I am also taking Vitamin C (orally) and Vitamin E. Also, I have eliminated coffee. There seems to be something about coffee which throws things off as well. Like do you ever notice your urine smells funny after drinking coffee? And I believe our urinary tract, vaginal tract and intestinal tract are closely linked with this bacteria thing. But the key is the hydrogen peroxide. No more discharge, no more odor - so you get your sex life back ladies and I still like the Bio Fem Activ gel because it is PH balanced at 4.1 and it feels natural and relieves any dryness. I find you can even use it before sex and will make that alot more comfortable. Well I wanted to share with you what I found has helped and please read the posts on earth clinic so you will hear what everyone has to say about the hydrogen peroxide. Glad there are boards like this where we can go and help each other. Good luck everyone.

Sarahg... I went back to read your post on page 9... Are you saying that the acidophilus, garlic and vitamins cured you and have been BV-free for 1 year now? Can you tell me what kind of vitamins you have taken to cure this?

    Default bv won't go away

Hi ladies. Been reading these posts for a while now, decided to finally post my own concerns and questions. I got BV about 6 months ago, never had it before, treated it with clindamycin ( the 1 dose type), came back, treated it again. went away, came back again I asked my GYN and he suggests i just use it again but i feel like i will just have the same result, it's only a temporary fix.

After reading thru this forum, I started my own regime of Nature's Way Primadophilus reuteri, 3x a day. I also take eat a cup of organic live plain yogurt with live cultures of l. acidophilus, vitamin c, 1000mg a day, as well as garlic pills, i've read they are helpful .

The Primadophilus has helped greatly, as the itching burning and discomfort has gone away, but i still have odor and discharge, and sex is still very uncomfortable so i've stopped completely to prevent further damage..if possible?

I don't feel cured, just less symptomatic, so I started the bio-femme active gel 2 days ago, it says to use it for 5 days, 2x a day. I've used as directed, though i feel like the discharge has increase, even to a more yellowish/whitish glob, when before it was just white. I don't feel any burning down there, nothing much different than before.

I'm hopeful that the bio-femme will work. Has anyone here used it, success stories? anything? i'm so miserable. i know there is hope out there, and i refuse to go back to the Dr. again and pay for more meds/antibiotics that will kill all the good bacteria and allow BV to reoccur.

if it doesn't, i guess i will try to Hydrogen peroxide douche, or make my own boric acid Suppositories. any suggestions?

I forgot to mention that I also take Nexium 40mg, once a day to treat my acid reflux. I'm wondering if this can be affecting the Primadophilus?

    Default Hi Lexilex

Lexilex, I know how miserable this is. Like you, I have done Clindamycin ( I did the 7 day though), not the one day Clindesse that you did. But yes it would come back. For me it would get much worse after sex ( the odor and discharge). And the funny thing is I never had an odor until multiple uses of Metrogel and then having sex. But anyway, yes the BIO FEM ACTIVE GEL doesn't seem to cure it for me, but it still really relieves itching, burning, irritation for me. But yes still discharge and some odor even after using it. I do have an update on the HYDROGEN PEROXIDE though. My discharge and odor started to come back. I used it again very diluted but I got a bit irritated. It was my bladder that felt irritated though, with happens to me after using the CLINDAMYCIN and even when I douched with ACIDOPHILUS! But I think that is just me, my bladder has been sensitive since I had a bad bladder infection back in 03, then the whole BV thing started. Maybe related? So I don't think you will notice the irritation from the peroxide. Just dilute it. But also, I take GARLIC. I like KYOLIC brand. But alas, it has not cured me. I still think its good because it as well as zinc and Vit E all help to boost our immune system and hopefully help. Oh, and you don't have to make your own boric acid caps. My ob/gyn has been really great. She told me she has had many patients with chronic bv and she even sent some to an infectious disease specialist to try to get to the bottom of this but they couldn't help. Then she told me she had some patients have luck with using MEGADOPHILUS by Natren inserted vaginally. You buy the powder and mix it with a little water to make a oatmeal type paste and use an applicator to insert it. So I tried this - before I'd tried the peroxide and it didn't seem to work for me, but I had found that Natren had this system with the Boric Acid/ Acidophilus capsules that you insert vaginally. I bought them but havent used it yet. Folic acid is suppose to help too. Hope something works and let us know! Kitten.

Oh and Lexilex, I really don't know if the Nexium would affect the Primadophilus you are taking, you mean like making it less effective? But I seem to have some acid stomach problems too. I wonder if it is related. Like our bodys PH is too acid or too alkaline. Hmmm.

Kitten123, thanks for replying. I'm interested in the natren system with Boric Acid. I found the Natren website online, which exactly did you get? I'll try anything. I have my own boric acid powder and gel capsules but hesistant to make my own!

This week I tried the Hydrogen Peroxide douche. I've done it so far for 2 days, but haven't noticed any change. Same amount of discharge and I feel like it may be affecting my bladder, like a different odor and slight burning/tingling sensation while urinating. I'm still taking the primadophilus reuterui 3x a day, and folic acid 2x a day.

I quit using the biofemme active gel daily, but I did try using it before and after sex and I felt no burning or discomfort. No more sex though, until I'm healed. ( makes it worse I Know).

Maybe stomach issues do have something to do with this, but I doubt it
