The reaction to the Balance Activ is a nasty stingyness! I've had it twice now and I'm too scared to use it again, after a few months of using it successfully.

I'm despairing this morning, as it seems I am constantly alternating between yeast infections and BV. On Saturday I finished my period so used RePHresh, then yesterday a yeast infection started.

It's odd with RePHresh, as it's marketed differently in the UK - it doesn't come with a douche.

I believe natural is better personally but it has just been difficult figuring out which is ideal and worth while for me. It would be a long list if I were to bother to tell u all that I've tried so I'll spare you but it's been all the ones you have (folic acid, vinegar, acidophilous ect. etc.). I have finally, finally, finally found something that seems to be working perfectly and is ideal (for the most part) for me. Generally speaking, I think it's important to try and eat as much of a balanced diet as possible (with fruits, whole grains and veggies etc. and I most definitely still take the folic acid just because). Recently, through my online research, I have come across something called 'balance active'. It restores the vagina's PH and specifically meant for this purpose (BV). I use it for 7 days to treat the BV, then as maintenance just twice a week after that for prevention. NO MORE ODOR or anything else troublesome about this condition. I am in my second week and so happy about this, I can't even tell you. It can change a person's life who has had this problem ongoingly with no other success. Also after your period they say can use for 2 days or so and after and during a round of antibiotics. It is so perfect in my opinion. The only issue is I wasn't able to find it in the United States. I had to order it from a site that would ship it here from the United Kingdom and I was DETERMINED to find one that would. The one I used was Asset Chemist because that was the only one I found that sold it 'and' shipped here. I also like to eat yogurt like Activia because of the acidophilous content and the fact that I like it. I just had to share my success in the hopes that someone else can stop suffering. Good luck to all of you.
I looked up the pharmacy you ordered balance activ from...I had been wanting to try balance activ but I live in the US also...So this pharmacy ships to the US? How much is balance activ in US dollars? And is balance activ still working for you?

rephresh pro b doesn't work...I tried it...someone on here said that it was a miracle for them but it didn't do anything for me

    Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I contributed and i'm still dealing with BV but things have gotten better. My BV has always varied between annoying and really bad but overall now the symptoms have gotten better.

I've pretty much given up on trying to put anything inside my vagina, nothing seems to work, if it seems to be a miracle at first i've come to realize that eventually it will stop working.

What seems to be working the best for me now is:

a: Using only organic cotton pads, NO TAMPONS when I get my period (I'm on month 3 of this and every month seems to get better) The timeline of when my BV started seems to coincide with when I started using tampons all the time. I've tried using the organic cotton tampons and they seem to help lessen the BV but i've found the best result has been being tampon free (though I hate the idea of doing this in the summer).

b: Cutting out as much (as my willpower will allow me to) everything that doesn't completely agree with me. I have a lot of food intolerances and I find when I completely cut out: Wheat, Dairy (of any kind, even yoghurt), diet coke (my one addiction), sugar (which I never ate much of anyways), and really all products containing gluten my BV actually does go away. Problem is it's so hard to eat like this all the time so if I could actually cut out all of these things for a month I am guessing I might be BV free after the first week and for the rest of that month. My stomach is also much happier without these things in it. I know a few people have mentioned they have stomach problems and I also have these, taking a natural fiber supplement with stomach soothers in it seems to be helping down there too because I find when my stomach gets upset my BV gets worse, somehow for me anyways there is a link.

c: I have been taking Colostrum for the last 10 days and that also seems to be giving my immune system a boost and helping the issue.

And of course i'm still doing all the other things i've been doing for years like using hypo-allergenic fragrance free soap and other bath products as well as hypo-allergenic laundry soap and dryer sheets, and even though the dryer sheets say they are hypo-allergenic I still hang my underwear to dry. I also find that things are better down there when I am wearing cotton or other natural fiber based underwear.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY recommend to those of you that are taking the antibiotics that you stop. It's bad for you to be doing this and they will not work! Save taking antibiotics for when you really need them or they will stop working for you at all in any situation.

    I hope this helps!!

OK. Starting my period BV free so far. I am going to only use tampons for my heavy day and never at night. I really think that leaving one in too long last time contributed to the BV, I could tell when I took it out that something wasn't right. YUK.

I think it might be back. I am so upset. I was fine for so many months what triggered it in May? Do women everywhere just have this and not know about it? Why had I never heard of it until I had it for the first time? May try to get some Candaclear and start again. It worked so well until my period started which of course threw the ph off. If you have enough Lactobacilli in you though the ph should be maintained right?

    Default chronic bv...8 years now

I am so relieved to know I am not the only one, I was starting to feel like a freak. My doctors have perscribed the same things everyone else's have. First year the flagyl(metrogel or pills) worked like a charm...for a while ,then it would return. Now, nothing works. I was so desperate to get relief from the foul smelling, heavy discharge and itching that I began douching with diluted peroxide. It seemed to help at first, but eventually it only aggravated it. My infections started right before I met my husband and have all but killed our sex life and our marriage. I know people around me can smell it. Sometimes it smells like fish, sometimes something dead or rotten. Really hard to feel sexy or romantic. When it is at its worst, it seems to pass to my bladder. My urine will smell absolutley putrid and begin to irritate me after I urinate. At this point I have just about given up. I'm starting to feel depressed and hopeless about it. It does help though, knowing I'm not alone. I bet if this were a condition that was affecting men instead of women, there would have been much more research and studies and medicines developed by now rather than leaving us to cure ourselves. Good luck to you all.

i know exactly how you feel. i just came off my period and eeewww!!!! i wasn't Bv free going on, but i was having very little weird discharge and no odor. i'm on a 21 day cycle so it seems whenever it is trying to cure itself my period pops up. i bought balance activ and i'm gonna start using it tonight. i even prayed over it that this finally would work. it is slowly getting to me now, seriously. the funny thing about it is that i never knew i had it going into my pap, i was shocked to know i had it, and now i'm having symptoms i didn't have before...i blame the doctor! lol im nuts i know.

It occured to me last night that (duh!) OK I was fine before period started, I had gotten rid of it in the past and it came back when I got my period. . . . maybe try the 'seasonal' period. . . .could this work? I am certainly going to try it if I can ever get this round to go away. My discharge isn't that much I mostly only notice it when I am having sex. It is just that gross fishy smell and I am hyper aware of it, quick to run get a towel and 'clean things up' before boyfriend of many years notices anything.

I so feel for those who have discharge that can be smelled from through clothing. I can see how this could put someone over the edge.
