when i turned 18 i was a dancer in an adult club so i was always wearing thongs and getting sweaty down there. i had to go to the gyn after about 6 months into my job cause i started getting crazy smells down there and it was so embarassing to have sex with my husband unless it was in the shower to hide the smell.
my gyn gave me flagyl to take for 3 days and the problem seemed to go away...it however returned about 3 months later.. the problem kept coming back for nearly a year until i left the club and started wearing normal panties again. i had another minor incident with bv about a year ago but i had no medicaid so i used rephresh and it seemed to do the trick and hasnt returned. i didnt even notice this thread and now that i see so many women have suffered the same thing i dont feel like i was just this random dirty person...i kept thinking that it was somehow my fault and im pretty sure my husband thought i gave him an std. he didnt want to sleep with me for quite some time after that first time he smelled something bad down there on me |

Hello Ladies,
I am 25 have been a sufferer of BV for a while now, almost on going for about 2 years. I have finally booted that thing, and this is how i did it.... Recently i have got a new boyfriend, i am not sure whether this has anything to do with it! He does ejaculate inside me, and it dosent make any difference, we dont need to wear condoms. I tried every single thing they had under the books, drinking apple cider vinegar, tried all the antibiotics, tried detoxing, tried going to naturopaths and changing my diet to lactose free, no dairy etc etc, changed my diet all in all, no sugar, no refined carbs etc. I tried acidpholous pills, i tried buying that femanol online, 6 months supply and getting it sent from america...i tried honestly everything, eating yoghurt, having garlic tablets, buying good bacteria suppositries, using condoms, changing contraceptive pills, showering before and after sex, even refusing to read the blogs on the web because it would bring me down...etc etc. EVERYTHING! I have found 3 things that keep my BV away.... - 1 cup of apple cider vinegar to a bath (do not put alot of water in, just enough to be able to cover yourself) the more water you put in the more it halves the effectiveness of the vinegar. I do this once a week. Closer to my period i tend to do it twice a week. - I take two goldenseal tablets a day (natural antibiotic instead of chemical stuff) - I take two cranberry tablets a day (help to make the environment more acidic) I have also changed my pill, i have done research and it appears that high estrogen pills show that alot of women on them have BV, i was on the yasmin contraceptive pill, now im on a low estrogen pill microgynon 20ED. I am also trying to stay positive, with my new partner, i still get worried that dreadful smell or discharge is going to come back, but i have been with him almost 3 months now, and havent got it back, i used to get it to the point where after clearing it up, my partner and me would only have to have sex once for me to get it back. I dont douche, i only open myself up to clean myself out when i have that apple cider bath. Apart from that i dont touch!!!! I also avoid sugar as much as i can, i LOVE lollies and sweets, and also bread, i try to eat bread only once a week now....i find the discharge comes back a little if i eat lots of sugar. I hope this has helped ladies, like i said, im not sure if it was the change in partner, or the change in pill, or the change of not taking anymore acidopholous etc....but its working...i get the discharge a tiny bit, when it comes close to menstrual time...but apart from that, IM GREAT! Hope i help you out, i thought after 3 months id get on here and let you all know, as i know exactly what it was like to go through what we all have! BEST OF LUCK xx |

Thanks v much for all the suggestions. I'm really pleased for you that you seem to have got rid of this thing.
![]() I hadn't heard that cranberry was good for BV, so I think I might give it a try. |

May I know is there any specific boric acid powder that only can be used? It would be very helpful if you can give me the url link. This is because I doubt I can find it in my country. Thanks a lot! |

I tried to purchase this from Amazon.com and this was not permitted outside of the US. I am not too sure as to why.
As sixling mentioned is there another site that sells outside of the US? Quote:

I stumbled across this forum on my search to find stories from others who have gone through what I'm going through. I don't know if maybe I did something myself to mess up the pH in my vagina which lead to BV. Here's what happened:
I became sexually active in Feb. of this year. Everything was going great, my body was fine and no problems. I began having sex with a new partner and wanted to make sure I as always "fresh" for him. I began using Summer's Eve douche, Summer's Eve Feminine Spray, and Always wipes pretty much everytime I was getting ready to have sex with him. (Not smart I know, but didn't think it would do harm then) This lasted for about a month without any issues. Then one night I had oral and vaginal sex with him, and the next day the entrance of my vagina felt like fleas had dined on me all night. I was itching soooooo bad. I also had a discharge that was runny and a little cloudy, and it also had a very mild fishy smell. I thought it was a yeast infection so I bought Monistat 3 Ovules. After the treatment everything returned to normal (so I thought). I began having sex again. After a little over 3 weeks it came back. I remember it was a Friday night and I ent to the bathroom and noticed a thick milky discharge with a strong odor (smelled exactly like period blood). I thought nothing of it since I had no itching or burning. I had sex that night, then the next morning I started my period. I thought that maybe the discharge and odor was just a reaction from my period. After my period stopped, I still had the same type of discharge with very mild odor. I continued to have sex not thinking anything of it. The next month I had my period, then the day after my period stopped the strong odor came back with even more discharge. This time I thought it was another yeast infection since I had itching. I bought Monistat 1 cream. After using the treatment the odor and discharge stopped, again, I thought I was cured, so I had sex again. The next day, the odor and discharge came right back, with no itching. OMG!!!!! I said to myself I cannot go through ANOTHER Monistat treatment. After doing research I found out that what I had may be BV. I bought a Vagisil screening kit and it said my pH was 5.5, which the results said it could be an indication of BV, so I made an appointment at the doctor. After getting my exam she told me that what I have is BV, so she gave me a 7 day supply of Flagyl. I am on my 4th day and I have no more odor and it looks like the discharge is drying up. I'm just very nervous that the medicine will cause a yeast infection and I will screw up the bacteria even more with treatment for [I]that[I] infection. Do you guys think that maybe I messed my pH up by using so many different products on my vagina in a matter of less than 2 months? I'm so scared this will keep coming back. |

I was one of the special cases where the drugs wouldn't work anymore. I lived with the odor constantly for four straight years, and it would show up in the tests, except for the wiff test, that I had no infection. There wouldn't even be clue cells. I was just a "stinky girl" and no one, not even Johns Hopkins had answers.
I tried it all: pro-biotics, homeopathy, flagyl, cleocin, clyndomycin, metrogel, some weird stuff from india that looked like syrup, rephresh, vitamins, those green pills that give you diarrhea, douching (big no no, I know), I tried it ALL. You know what's working? In total I've had recurring BV for ten years and you know what's working? It irritates me that something so simple could work and doctor's aren't telling us: A light layer of Neosporin applied with the finger three times a day. NO ODOR. NONE. ALL OF THE MONEY THAT I'VE THROWN AT THIS AND THIS IS WHAT WORKS AND I HAD TO FIND OUT FOR MYSELF....I'm beyond irritated and relieved. I hope that it works for you. CAUTION: You have to use polyisoprene condoms with this, because latex condoms will break. Get back to your life and try this, it's working for me.
