How long did it take you to get rid of the smell and discharge while doing this regimen? |

Well, I've been using it for five days now and have had no bad side effects. If you are hesitant ask your doctor first. I personally don't see how it could be any different than cleocin or any other mineral oil/petroleum based antibiotic, but who knows.
I have decided to attack my problem like a doctor would though, and bought a generic yeast cream kit with an applicator so I can put it in twice a day with more neosporin. I'm going to try ten days for starters and see what happens. If I use it every day I might end up resistant to the antibiotics just like the other stuff. I guess that I'm saying moderation is my approach at this point. When I was doing the light layer, around hour six I would have mild symptoms. It just wasn't enough medicine. So, I think this new approach might bring some resolution to this. I'll keep you posted. If it turns into a maintenance thing I'm ok with that too. It's a quality of life issue for me at this point. |

Until tonight I was applying the neosporin with my finger, but bought the applicators today. Even though I had success with a thicker double application with my finger I thought that it would be more "clinical" to buy the applicators.
Well there was an extra step that I skipped tonight while using the applicator (one that I was doing before I added the Neosporin for odor control). I guess that I was trying to simplify this and say it was all the neosporin helping. Well, was spraying the neosporin on my finger with liquid crystal minerals that I bought from a wholefood store. I skipped that tonight. Well, this was an important step I found out. The extra Neosporin in combination with the scraping of the plastic applicator and spreading it around caused some mild irritation. I thought, oh no, I was warned about this when I did research (rash/irritation). I was afraid that I would have to stop. Well then it hit me. This hasn't bothered me one bit for the past five days and all of a sudden it burns. I sprayed my finger a few times with the crystal minerals and mixed it around in there, and in five minutes I was fine. So it's not just the Neosporin that's important. It's the combination of the two products that are working for me. I know you're thinking...who is this crazy chick willing to wipe out all of her good bacteria and will end up with a chronic condition...blah blah blah... WELL...I plan to follow up with a pro-biotic regime when I'm done. So, don't worry your pretty little head. I'm also paying close attention to my hearing levels and pain in my kidney area. I read somewhere that this can happen with internal neosporin use, but primarily with injections which is just a flat out no no. Well, I also did research about taking the ingredients orally that are in neosporin, and it can be done. The only thing that can't be done is injection with some of them. The way I see it, is if you can use Neosporin on weeping bloody wounds, a mucous membrane isn't that different even though it does absorb quickly. I don't believe the levels that reach the bloodstream will be that different from a bad wound. Also, all of the active ingredients except for Bacitracin were approved in 2008 for a bladder irrigation solution. After further Bacitracin research I put my mind to rest. Thanks for bringing it to my attention that I might hurt myself, but after six hours of research I feel confident and I've had no odor for two days now. I haven't had two consecutive days of no odor for four years. I feel like a new person. YAY ME! |

OK, so I'm on my last day of treatment. The odor is gone, the thick creamy discharge is gone. The discharge is now mucus-like, earlier this morning it was a very light green and now it's clear. Is this what it's like when it's clearing up from ya'll's experience? I wonder how I'll know when it's completely clear. I'm just hoping I don't develop a yeast infection from the antibiotics, b/c I fear the treatment from that will throw off the pH and I'll have to do all this all over again.

a green discharge is usually Trichomoniasis and is not Bacterial VAginosis. Metronidazole can be used to clear this infection however. This might be something entirely different for you so I'm not going to give you advice directly.
If I have a bacterial infection I have to be on antibiotics until I'm symptom free for three full days: meaning no odor. If I have the odor for any days less than three on the antibiotics it comes right back. This however doesn't even apply anymore because I required such extended doses of Metronidazole and literally had to beg my doctor for extra medication when I moved and changed doctors. They low balled me for so long and so many times with not enough medication, that the bacteria became resistant. Thank you doctor, I'm glad that you took the fax from my previous doctor so seriously and permanently screwed up my life. |

Hi Angelhalo,
Well i split up with my ex and wasnt sexually active for about a month, so my body may have thanked me for the time to calm down a little. Ummm i think with taking the goldenseal, apple cider baths, detox, and the month break...it was within the 4 weeks that it cleared up. Goldenseal and the cider baths to be honest i think are what keeps it away. I can still enjoy a nice diet with sugar and stuff, not over the top like i used to....but this goldenseal is a natural antibiotic. I guess our bodies have been overriden with this bacteria, it takes a little time for the body to heal and adjust, it wont happen over night..... Ive been taking goldenseal and doing the baths ever since...i will not stop taking goldenseal, it works wonders. i take two capsules a day.

Well, yes, now I have the ever so lovely yeast infection, even after eating yogart and taking AZO yeast all through my Flagyl treatment. The discharge is like little tiny pieces of wet toilet paper. I saw my doctor yesterday and she said that I'm at the very start of the yeast infection, so she prescribed me Terazol.
Also, she prescribed me this product called AVC cream. She said it's a vitamin to help restore everything in my vagina. After reading all the posts I didn't see anyone talk about this, so many it's something we should look into. She said it's an old school remedy, the pharmacies didn't even have this medicine in stock. I'm going to try this, b/c she said it will heal me. Hopefully it works. |

Hi Caramel!
I'm so sorry to hear that, I know for me and a lot of other ladies that is a common side effect of those treatments. those harsh treatments combined with just all the stress of the whole ordeal can do it to you. But I have read some really encouraging things about people using AVC cream to prevent bv, be careful though because it is an antibiotic i think, is it the 30 day prescription? the stuff if supposed to work really well so im sure bv is not going to come back do you have a kit to measure your pH at home? it might be a good way to track how you're doing... Relax and let yourself heal, and be sure to post how the AVC works!
