The BV discharge isn't so thick/cottage cheesy looking, and it also smells much stronger - quite a nasty unpleasant smell.

Really? Is it possible to have had one for such a long period of time with no other symptoms? I'm talking years here. There's never been any itching, discomfort or pain, etc. Just the abnormal discharge. It isn't cheesy in texture, just the smell. The texture is really mucousy, but not thick or cottage cheese like.

I'm shocked that my NP wouldn't have diagnosed it. :/

To be honest I'd be happy to know it was either thrush or BV, because I sure as don't want this to be normal!

Hm yes, this does sound more like me. Again, is it possible to have had one for so long with no other symptoms??

I feel so stupid for not knowing, wow.

What do you gals recommend for treatment?

Well as far as I know the treatment is antibiotics.
Just go and get tested, maybe it's completely something else all together.

Lots of suggestions in this thread for treatments for BV. You can try altering the PH by using something like RePHresh, if you don't want to rush down the antibiotics route. Probably worth getting tested though, so you know what you're treating.

Hey ladies, you should check out the Dr. Oz Show web-site, he did a program on BV recently it is available to watch. He recommended taking vitamin D3 among other things. I added it to my regimen and hoping that it helps! I don't get a lot of sun so I'm probably deficient.

    Default Still hunting!

I am in the same boat!!

I got this problem Last feb 09 and ive had it everyday since (fishy smell)!!!
Its funny because never in my life have i had problems with my health until nov 08 when i was rushed into hospital and had to have my appendix removed ( i think there was more to my surgery than they are telling me as i had to stay in hospital an extra few days as didnt recover normally like everyone else). I see a regular thing in women saying they have had surgery and then are now stuck with this problem, but me too have put this forward to various doctors and there having none of it!

I dont understand where else i could have got this problem from, i wasnt having intercourse at ALL around the time this happened, so that rules that out.

I have had 4 doctors over the last year i have lost count how many times i have been back and forth too.

At one point they tryed to turn it into a mental health problemsaying i was going mad was thinking too deep about this problem HAHA they make you laugh, they dont have a clue.

i cant believe how oblivious doctors act to this problem!!

Anyways i knew i wasnt going insane because i would spend hours researching on the internet night after night and read forums of every other woman dealing with this problem, And knew i wasnt the only one coping with this.

Over the last year it has been a constant battle just to get the doctors and gyno to take me serious, They dont care aslong as they are getting paid.

I have tryed the majority of things-

Metrodonizole tablets and gel (more times than i can count)
    Clindamycin cream
They even gave me IBS tablets lol
    And acne tablets (anti bacterial)
    Ive tryed Vitamins
    Yogurts
    Actimel daily
    Achipilidus Tablets
    Hydrogen peroxide douches Diluted/undiluted
    Vinegar douches
    Inserted and ate raw garlic
    Inserted yougurt

    And nothing works so far!!

Ive really had enough of this problem it has got me soo depressed havnt really left my flat for a year feels like ive been in prison for a year,
I just dont want to be around anyone not even my family.
No one really understands it fully unless you have the problem yourself!!

i am only 19 and feel it has ruined my life already ive missed a year that i cant get back.
My sex life has disappeared, I just dont feel fresh or sexy at the minute and just cant be bothered with men, For the simple fact im embarrassed and its not a thing you really want to explain.

this last year has been an emotional roller-coaster ive learned alot about my self, I have been soo low even to the point of suicidal thoughts,
I mean ive had some bad times in my life like when my dad died but this has topped everything off.

Im now at a point where im thinking i cant carry on like this i need to fight my corner and sort this out and nip it in the bud.

So im gonna try a few things you ladies have mentioned, Fingers crossed!
And am also gonna keep returning back to my docs and gyno and keep putting new information in front of there faces to show i aint giving up and i deserve a bit of time an effort and co operation into sorting this once and for all.

I am going to mention the Atopobium Vaginae i read this a few months ago too, and found it very interesting, I believe my bacteria is not normal bacteria but contaminated, Only if i could prove this!

I have already asked for a culture but they didnt have a clue at first until i explained, And even now they are messing me around where to go to get a swab taking, Hopefully when i get this done the results will make things more clearer i hope.

I would just like to thank all you ladies for taking the time to share you info, Has been really helpful, and if more of us get together and raise awareness on this maybe we will get somewhere.

Good luck if finding your own cure, I will be sure to write again when i find mine, I will keep you updated take care
