hi, Im 24 years of age. About two years ago I got the depo shot. Worst mistake ever. it caused me to bleed for 3 months non stop. I had to go on hormones and the pill to make it stop and regulate my period. however i also had a bad reaction to the pill as it caused me not to be able to go near food without extreme nausea. so i went off it, and things were great for about a year. about 8 months ago, i started spotting for about 5-6 days before my period. i went to my doctor, got blood test and got ultrasounds done. nothing came of the test. they were all clear so my doctor told me its probably a side effect of the depo. he suggested that i get a merina. i got a referral to the gynecologist but i don't have the money to go and i'm too scared to try something else as i've had bad experience's. And i think things are getting worst. i spotted for 9 days before my last period. Do u think that my issues are from the depo or should i go to another doctor. its starting to effect my love life.

Spotting is normal anytime you start birth control or come off of it because your body is getting used to seeing the drug in you or on the other hand it is getting used to not seeing it anymore. Length of spotting can vary in each individual though so it could last months for you and only a single day for another woman. It is also normal to spot during your cycle when you are not on birth control, that result would be due to an irregular cycle which will happen to all women at some point. The time to worry and see a doctor is when it is heavy thick clotting for a prolonged period of time. A spot here and there is not much concern, it is the obvious 'this is not right' type scenario that is of major concern. Your body is not always ready to deal with something quickly so your body may take longer to readjust than other women.
