    Hello ladies,

I have been bothered by an itchy spot (I say 'spot' but it isn't actually a lump, it's just a... An area, I guess) on my vagina for years. Literally as long as I can remember. I've never seen a doctor for it because it comes and goes, and invaribly it's always gone by the time I can get around to seeing a doctor.

It's right where my labia meet, towards the back, near the vagina 'hole'. It's only on my left labia. Sorry if this is gross, but it usually starts when I'm wiping myself after I've peed. Before I even notice I'm doing it, I'm just rubbing a bit too hard because it feels really good. NOT in a sexual way, but in the same way it feels really good to have someone scratch an itch you can't reach. Anyway, what happens next is the skin is constantly itchy; sore; and tender. How often I get it can vary from a few times a month to once a month to even once every two or three months, and it can happen at any time during my menstrual cycle. I often find myself scratching at it or rubbing it when I wipe myself without even realising it, which effects how long it lasts. The less I scratch at it, the quicker it heals, but it always takes around three days and burns like crazy when I pee. Until now I've only ever been in long-distance relationships, so I would only be having sex once a week at most. Now that I'm living with someone and frequently having sex it's really bothering me, because it's making sex really sore. I do shave down there but it comes about regardless of whether I've just shaved; the hair's growing back in; or I've got full-on jungle down there.

    Here's what I know it's NOT:
    - A genital wart (my last STD test came back negative on all counts)
    - Any other STD/STI (as above)
    - A reaction to toilet paper (I've had it for YEARS, and used all kinds of different toilet paper in that time)
    - A reaction to shower gel (I've also used all kinds of shower gels in that time, and I've found that it doesn't make a difference whether I use shower gel down there or just water)
    - Shaving (like I said, it happens anytime during regrowth/shaving cycle)
    - Caused by my period (as above)

Other than that, I'm stuck! Anyone have any idea?

Have you had children? I'm wondering if it's from stitches, etc.

Nope: never had children; never been pregnant; never had any kind of surgery, vaginal or otherwise.

No draining; no oozing. The skin itself looks no different to any other skin down there. There's no lump, either visibile or feel-able. It just... Itches!

If your gyn has no clue...have you thought about consulting with a dermatologist?
