On December 2nd I had a colpscopy which involved partial removal of a cervical polyp, and biopsies taken on three different areas of my cervix. Results came in and everything was benign, thank goodness! I had no complications, hardly any bleeding from procedure. On Dec 14 I started my period and I am still on it. I went to my doc yesterday and after examining me, she said my bleeding is not heavy and she couldn't find anything (via palpating) out of the ordinary. There were no areas that hurt while she was palpating either. She said it could all be due to stress of holidays doubled with the fact I just finished finals. She did send me to the lab to have blood drawn to check thyroid and complete blood panel. Around dinner time, she called me at home saying my WBC count is up, specifically my neutrophils (which indicate bacterial infection). She called in an antibiotic, which I started last night. I have a follow-up with gyno on Dec 27th and was advised not to worry but if the bleeding increases to the point I fill a thick pad per hour, to go to ER. Right now my flow is light, but enough to "plop" into the toilet when I go to the bathroom. My blood count and thyroid (as of this morning) are normal....no anemia or anytyhing. Just the increase in neutrophils (a type of white blood cell). Has anyone ever had a change in their periods like this? I'm 39 and told I'm not perimenopausal but I do have anxiety disorder so naturally I'm over worried/stressed out over all of this. Any advice or shared experiences would definitley help ease my mind. Thank you!
