I went in to see my gyne after having several very painful cysts burst on my ovaries over the last few years and constant bleeding and horrible cramping for the past 6 months. This doctor has saved my life in the past after my having two very complicated pregnancies that almost ended in my and my sons deaths.
He suggested a uterine ablation. Usually he performs them in his office but my uterus is tipped and my cervix is very high and he was afraid I would be in too much pain and so he suggested we do it in the operating room at the hospital under general anesthesia at the hospital. I went in and he attempted to perform the ablation but when he got in there there was no room for him to get into my cervix because it wouldn't dilate so he stopped.
I now have to have a hysterectomy. I know it has to be abdominal because of my cervix not dilating. I am just curious what some of you have been through with hysterectomies and what all you had removed. I am also curious what effects you had afterwords.
I am pretty sure I am going to have him leave at least part of one ovary but I am scared to do it because of the cysts. I am scared to have him take all of them because of early menopause. I am only 38. I started my period when I was 9 so I am pretty sure I was going to go through menopause early anyway.
Any help would be appreciated.
Stacie
Oh, I forgot to mention there are fibroids in my uterus and a possible mass.
