I have had a bartholin's cyst for about 7 years now. It got inflamed and infected once while I was on vacation 5 years ago and i had it lanced, most painful experience ever. It then started to come back 2 years later. Although it was never infected again, it started to get very large and my doctor was monitoring it. On monday, she lanced it as it was so big. She then put a word catheder in, she said it would form a duct when the wound healed so that it would not fill up again. The thing then fell out 2 days later, not a pleasant experience. I am going in today, not sure if she is going to put one back in. It was very painful and uncomfortable while it was in and I am not looking forward to it again. I am nervous about trusting my doctor though as some of the info she has given me does not match up with research I have done. She said she would only need to keep the catheter in a week but every site says it needs to stay in for 4 weeks to be effective. Does anyone have experience with this or does anyone know of a great Doctor in the new york city area that can help me?
