I have tried the folic acid, the flagyl, the femdophlis, the acidopholis, yogurt by mouth, tea tree oil on the tampon, hydrogen perioxide douches and they were all okay. Never seemed to work very well, just temporary. I don't know what has happened here lately, but I was experiencing what I self diagnosed as what I thought were diabetic syptoms, so I researched online like I do for BV and found something that said I needed to take ginseng and zinc, calcium and magnesium. I bought the zinc, calcium and magnesium in one pill. The ginseng is 600mg. I have been taking one of these at night and a multivitamin in the mornings for 2 weeks. I don't know if you are like me, but I catch myself smelling of my toilet paper after I urinate. About 3 days after taking these, there was no musty smell. If you take FA, then you know about the musty smell. I haven't taken any FA this whole time, except what is in the multivitamin. But there is absolutely no smell at all. I am tickled but also skeptical. Just wanted to pass this on if someone else wants to try it and see if it works for them. Can't hurt, its all natural anyway. I will be checking on here and see if anyone else has any luck with this. I also think I am sleeping better with the ginseng. I have terrible sleep habits and I am sleeping more sound. Good luck!!!

I think there is a common misconception by us women about bv, and that is, that it is a vaginal problem. It's not. That's probably why we often fail using douches, inserts, etc. It may manifest iteself that way, but that is not the root of the problem.

BV originates in our gut. It's an imbalance in our gut flora, therefore we have to tackle it from inside. Vaginal applications gives us temporary relief from the fishy smell, sometimes the discharge, but it seldom takes care of the problem on a long term basis. Having an occasional douche sure can make you feel fresh and clean (for once) when you want to get intimate with your partner.

I've read of so many deficiencies that might contribute to this prolonged infection that I've tried as many as I can. As somebody said, what's the harm in taking them when they are natural? They are also good for you, Vitamins, especially B, C and D, zinc, magnesium, calcium, folic acid. Recently I started taking Molkosan (research it) and it immediately got rid of the odour. I have only been on it a few days and I am still waiting to see if it will get rid of the discharge (which has decreased a lot), as well. I took 1 tablespoon in a cup of water at bedtime (brush teeth afterwards!) and I have been pleasantly surprised. Keeping my fingers crossed now for total success).

If you've tried everything else, no harm in trying this, too. Research it and see what it does for you. It's mainly lactic acid, derived from whey, and it helps with your stomach acid. If you are lactose intolerant you can take it because the protein has been removed. Please research this thoroughly if you have any doubts. As I said, this is one on a long list of things I've tried, and I have found success so far. It may work for someone else out there. Good luck.

As somebody said, what's the harm in taking them when they are natural?
The harm is when people lie, of course not all do but the particular ones to watch out for are the ones that sell "NO prescription needed!!!!!!!", "the ONLY CURE for BV!!!!!", "one DAY and its CURED!!!!". The often sell sugar placebos and put other additives in the mixture that can cause major problems. Natural supplements are still drugs, they alter the biochemistry in your body making them drugs. Any sort of overdose which is possible with absolutely anything which is why, like you said, a lot of research is needed. If people want some extra vitamins or minerals then they should be bough in a pharmacy or local health food store.

    I personally would never douche.
But I did read that 800-1600mcg of folic acid per day, plus acidophilis (no less than 6 billion per day, and a formula for women is even better) works well. And no sugar!

    Default Found my cure.

Hi Guys, Found this thread, whilst researching BV / Thrush etc. Just wanted to let you all know of something that has worked for me.

    Garlic.

Its so easy. I got online a week ago and researched "homeopathic remedies for BV" and came across different articles saying that garlic was an excellent cure for any yeast related infection.

Garlic kills yeast. Simple as that. Thats why when breadmakers make bread, they put the garlic in after the bread has risen.

SO - Firstly - I've suffered from self diagnosed BV for YEARS. I've gone through undies like you wouldn't beleive. The stains, the smell - so humiliating. Showered twice a day - I hated beign around people because i was sure they could smell it - I mean - it was BAD. I've tried soaking tampons in yogurt and inserting them, I've tried soaking in apple cider vinegar baths - I've avoided doucheing at all costs, as yeast LOVES water - and all the sites strong suggest avoiding it.

So the other night. I took a clove of garlic, peeled it, cut the ends off, and inserted it into my vagina. Overnight, the smell vanished.

I spent the next day getting a cloudy discharge, and smelling of garlic. but showered again that night, and woke up the following morning with clean underwear, and NO SMELL!!!!!

ITs been 7 days. 7 days of clean underwear, zero discharge, and a clean smelling vagina.

The bulb cost 60c. Talk about a bargain!!!

I have used garlic clove to treat a yeast infection and it was very effective. Typically it takes more than one day to get rid of the yeast. You do have to be careful, I think you should only use organic garlic. To start, Peel the clove, slightly crush it or make a few slits in it, this helps release the allicin which is the "active" ingredient. Don't over do it or you could burn the delicate tissue of your vagina. Insert the clove and leave it in place, wear a pair of cotton panties. Night is a good time to start this. With a serious infection it can take a several days to completely eradicate it.

You also need to change your diet and make some lifestyle changes. Cut out sugar. This includes things that the body rapidly converts to sugar, such as alcohol, refined flour products, all Soda (inc diet), refined carbs. Up your intake of veggies, drink lots of water, back off on fruits.Do not wear clothing that is tight in the crotch, thongs, panty hose, or underwear made of any fiber but cotton. Once you are done with the garlic treatment quit wearing undies to bed - you need air time.

You will smell of garlic a bit, you body absorbs it and it will just come through your pores, rather like the smell of alcohol will. Lots of dark leafy greens or taking chlorophyll will reduce this and it's good for you!
