First time on here. About 3 weeks ago I noticed my vagina felt irritated when I would wipe. Next few days after I was red and itchy (which got worse and worse) and had sex w/ hubby which bothered it of course. I tried yogurt and florafiber tablets b/c I heard the flora would kill the yeast and things got better and I thought went away after 5-6 days or so. Now 3 weeks later I am getting same symptoms again. However, I don't have the "cottage cheese discharge" so I wasn't sure if it's a yeast infection??? What do you think?

    Default I know from experience!

Wow...I'm so glad that I can offer you advice on this subject.

I just experienced the same problem however mine was so horrible that my boyfriend had to rush me to the emergency room because of the throbbing pain. After my day in the emergency room only to be told that I had herpes and sent home with numerous medicine I was still experiencing itching, swelling, and throbbing pain.

So I wait it out take all the medicine and read up on herpes I knew after reading it I didn't have it, but I had to wait for the test results. Two weeks later after my appointment with my gyno all my tests show no std's or herpes, but a urinary tract infection and a yeast infection.

My gyno then said what happened was that since I had both infections and we had sex that it caused the swelling, pain, itchiness, and discharge. She said the "thrusting" motions of sex will cause the bacteria to spread and will make the infection worse. I was treated with a round of antibiotics and diflucan.

She also advised not to use anytype of soap or body wash in that area and to take a sitz bath if needed. It has been a few days since I went off of the antibiotics and took my last diflucan Sunday. I'm not experiencing any type of pain now.

I hope that this helps you. Should you have any other questions let me know and I might be able to help you with this.

    Good Luck and God Bless!
