Thread: Strange discharge since bith of child

I just had my second child about 3 weeks ago. I stopped bleeding about a week ago but I am having an unusual discharge. It is kinda light red/pink in color and it looks slimy. I thought they were blood clots at first but I dont think they are. Also I have an odor that will not go away despite my frequent cleaning. I do not remember this happening with my first child and I was wondering if I should see my doc before my 6 week follow up?

Congratulations on the birth of your baby! Each pregnancy can be different, so you may experience symptoms in your second pregnancy that you didn't have in your first. It's not unusual to have some discharge for a few weeks postpartum, but odor and light bleeding are things to be concerned about. Don't wait for that six-week follow-up. Call your gyn asap. He/She may want you to come in to make sure everything is ok.
