Not really... I'm scared, a little. I went for pre-admission testing today, blood urine, blah blah blah.

The procedure is called a perineoplasty, due to what he called dyspareunia - the definition of which is "difficult or painful sexual intercourse." It is covered by my insurance.

I'm going under anesthesia, he's going to cut the scar tissue and a small portion of surrounding tissue and sew it in a way that it won't have any more stress on it, or need to stretch (because scar tissue can't stretch). It will take 30 minutes from start to finish.

I can't have a bath, jacuzzi, swim or have sex for four weeks, or until he gives me the all-clear. I should feel better a few days after the surgery, but I was told I will not be bed-ridden, just uncomfortable.

For anyone interested, it commonly happens in women who HAVE had episiotomies or tearing during vaginal deliveries, but I had a c-section, and this started from basic lust. It happened after a long week of non-stop sex. It never stopped happening after that.

I will update after the whole thing is done.
I will write up my story of my lust and problems with tearing...A different approach but an approach...Give me about 15 minutes as it is not a short story...

Please understand this was not a story of lust but a story of my cure for this affliction. It is completely different and I am just going to pass rather than change anything here...

Caroline, you can send me a PM as I am curious to know how you dealt with it.

Someone just recently told me that they thought I should get a second opinion - actually, it was just yesterday, and now that I'm having the surgery, I am not putting it off to find another doctor. I went through three doctors in the first place who just looked at me strangely when I told them what was happening. One poked and prodded me to death and swore up and down he saw nothing, but it kept happening. Heaven knows how long it would take to find someone else who knows what this condition is. I don't have all the time in the world!

Anyway, the person I spoke to mentioned vaginal dialators of varying sizes to stretch the vagina, but its not as though I've gone through a long period of celebacy and my vagina wasn't in working order - - there is true damage there and it needs to be taken care of surgically.

I just about died from the pain.....I hesitated saying anything in fear that it would get too graphic but sometimes I wonder why some things are not known that should be known.....I have guest's all day but will get it on tonight...I had vaginal tears too....I doctored for probably three years until a wonderful OB-GYN put me on to this...I have more to write on this later but must go now.......Ladylane, the surgery is not always what it is supposed to be but I am not knowledgeable on this...Where you are I was.....Take care, Caroline

Ladylane: I will PM all the information to you tonight...I can't take a chance of the Forum rejecting what I am saying as I am not to speak of anything of a sexual manner here pertaining to us....I will include all the information at that time...TC, C

Smile Suregery is over!

Well, I am home and finally wide awake from surgery.

The surgery was simple and lasted about ten to fifteen minutes. Waking from anesthesia was another story! I was in recovery for two and a half hours, sleeping like a baby. Then I came home and slept the rest of the day. I have very, very light bleeding - just a dot here or there. I do feel sore but it really feels like rough sex/horseback riding sore. It does not hurt to urinate. I assumed I would get that little sqeeze bottle to clean myself after going to the bathroom but he gave me nothing. I've been taking Tylenol and he said I could use an over the counter spray (****, I just now forgot the name, starts with a D) to numb and cool it. Something like Solarcaine, but a little different. They give it in L&D to moms at the hospital, but they couldn't snatch me any.

My orders are no baths, swimming, jacuzzi, tampons, sex, douches, etc., for four weeks. Tylenol or Advil for pain, which is minimal. Activities "as tolerated." My follow-up appointment is in two weeks. The stitches are dissolvable, but he may remove them himself, he said, depending upon if they start to irritate the tissue there.

I've tried to look to let you know what it now looks like, but its a little sensitive down there so I couldn't manipulate the area as I'd wanted to. I can see two glistening stitches and that's it.

I hope this helps someone else with this problem because it took me three doctors to realize I wasn't crazy and there was a reason for the tearing. In a few weeks I'll be good as new.

Hi LadyLane:

My tearing was deep inside me so we did have a different type.....I went to the Urgent Care PA, Internal Medicine Doctor and finally the OB-GYN until I finally found my cure...We are talking about something that got worse and worse like yours did....

Get well, recover and make up for lost time...But girl, do it slow.....work up to it...But then when you are ready and able....Get It On and have a ball....You deserve it...TC, C

Hello LadyLane,
It's been a few months and I'm wondering if the surgery cured the tearing problem? I have the dreadful recurring slit myself and would gladly undergo the knife if it stopped this from happening. Sigh, I'd perform the surgery on myself if I could. Best regards...

Did you have the surgery and if so how did it turn out? I have the same problem and have tearing since my daughter was born in 1983. I ripped from the vigina, all the way to the rectum. I've never truly recovered and about to go out of my mind. Please, let me know what happened?
Thanks,
Trish

Default Finally I have answers!

I am so relieved to find women out there with the same problem as me! For over a year now I have been tearing during sex with my husband (never a problem in the past). It has been getting worse and worse and now I can't stand to have sex as it splits and bleeds as soon as he trys to enter me. I went to the doctor today and he says there is visible scar tissue and has given me the Eumovate ointment but doesn't expect it will help much so is refering me for the surgical procedure. I feel very relieved to know what the problem is and just hope the surgery really does what he said it would so I can have pain free sex with my husband again! If anyone has gone through the procedure I would very much appreciate any feedback on their results.
Thank you.
