Need Advice and Help Now, Please
Hi I am 19 years old, and I have been experiencing alot of pain in my lower abdomnem, the pain comes and goes all the time but it usually comes everyday, it is a sharp shooting pain that throbs and sometimes I can barley move because of the pain and it has been going on for over 5 months or so. I am also having a lot of pain during intercourse that I have never experienced before. Everytime that I try to have intercourse I have to stop because I feel like something is being poked (I guess) and it causes more sharp shooting pains like the ones I experience throughout the day. I have went to the doctors and had a Pap Test, a Pelvic Exam and they took other smears but nothing showed up. I am really concerned that this could be something serious but I have no clue on what it could be, and is there anything else that the doctors can do to see if I do have something wrong?
Another thing is that I have been having a lot of pain in my brests mostly just the one brest, at first I thought maybe my bra wasnt supporting enough then I got new ones and that was not the problem, so then I tried to do a self breast exam but I cannot tell what is normal or not, when I did the exam I had a lot of pain when touching certain areas, but I cant tell if there is anything wrong. What could it be?
I have been on Depo for about 3 years and I just stoped taking it about a month and a half ago and I was wondering if that could have anything to do with it, if it could be that why didnt I experience pain earlier, I have never had any problems before. Also I dont know if this will have anything to do with it, but when I was 14 I became pregent, and the doctors told me that my body could not handle the pregency and that I needed to have an abortion, so I did have one and I was wondering if anything could have happened during the procedure that would cause me problems now.
I really jsut want to know if anyone knows what could be wrong with me, and if I need to go back to the doctors, and what else they could do to see if there is something wrong, as I have been checked out. I am just so confused and concerned and dont really know what to do anymore.
Please Help

I am sorry to hear that you are having these problems, but I can tell you right now what the problem is. It's the Depo Provera! Depo Provera has an effect on your sex drive and your sexual organs. The problem you experience during sex is likely to be the cervix not fully retracting as it should. The cervix retracts when we become excited. It does this to make room for the man's penis. If it does not retract, the penis hits it and it will cause discomfort and eventually pain. You know when you have a papsmere and they mess around with the cervix... it's very uncomfortable? Same thing here.
As for the daily abdominal pain, I am not yet certain what causes this, but I know it is a side effect of the Depo.
I took Depo for 5 years and did not have my period for the entire time. I began to have the same exact problems, combined with severe hair loss, migraine headaches, and immune problems. Sex was painful and my sex drive was almost non-existant. I also had pain in my abdomin. My doctors ran every test imagineable and had no idea. Then one day, I started cutting things out of my diet thinking something must be making me sick. Nothing helped. So then I looked up Depo Provera on the Internet, just on a hunch and was shocked to find that women all over the country were having the same EXACT problems! What was more horrifying was that I found out that Depo causes Osteoporosis, should not be used long term, and that the FDA even has a warning out for it. It is also linked to progesterone deficieny or progesterone infertillity. I immediately stopped taking Depo. Unfortunately, it says right on the packaging (along with the FDA warning of Osteoporosis) that it takes at least 1 year to leave your system. 1 YEAR!! So my period did not come back for a year and my pain finally stopped. It was another 2 years or so before my period was "normal" and a total of 4 years before my hair started to grow back. I am perfectly healthy now... 6 years later.
Many women suffer serious side effects from Depo whether they took it once or for 12 years. I honestly do not know why they keep giving it to women. It just infuriates me. Keep in mind, that the doctors seem to be clueless about it. Myself, along with thousands of women, found no help what-so-ever from our gynecologists. Unfortunately, the only way to fix this is to wait for it to leave your system. I seriously advise against starting any other birth control until you feel better (but that is just my opinion and I am not a doctor).
