Hi all, I have a couple of questions about Cysts on the ovary, and the coil.

Oct 2005 I had my son, after the 6 week post birth bleed was finished, I needed a morning after pill. After taking that, I had bad bleeding that just wouldn't stop, the pill made it worse, it was continuous. I'd get out the bath, and blood would run down my leg, most unpleasant. So the doctor suggested the coil. When I had it fitted, it really hurt, far more than the "pinching" I was told I could feel. For days afterwards I was in pain, I couldn't even drive. Eventually the pain eased, and my periods stopped completely, which given the type of coil, is normal.

Then I noticed, after any hard work, or long walks, or even when I hoovered the stairs, I'd get pain behind my hip bone, and I'd bleed a bit. Eventually the doctor listened to me, and sent me for a scan which revealed a cyst on the ovary. I went back twice within a few months, and it hadn't shrunk or grown, but it had bled into itself (I'm not quite sure what this means, as they don't explain much) so I was told to go back to the doctors to make an appointment to see a consultant. I never got round to it, as Im petrified they're going to say I need an op to remove it.

Since being diagnosed, I've put on weight, and have darker hair, I've now had about 4 months of no spotting after activity, until now. But I'm not sure if it's a period, as I'm on my 2nd day of bleeding,the day before the bleed I felt so depressed which is unusual for me. Could it be a period after almost 3 years of no periods? Or does it indicate a problem with the cyst? I had no abnormal pain (when I say that I mean, I always have dull aches, but nothing more than that) so I don't think it's burst or anything, but how would I know if it had? Some sites say you'd get immense pain, others say you only get that if it's distended, infected or something else is wrong.

I just wish they'd give me answers. When I had my 1st scan, the nurse told me that cysts don't cause bleeding, so I went home worried something more was wrong, only to read sites that say bleeding is normal.

Also, I can't find much info on a cyst bleeding into itself. What causes this? And why does it mean the cyst won't disappear on its own, as the nurse told me?

Unsure what to do now, I should make a doc appointment, but they never give me answers, so Im not sure there's any point.
