Could someone please tell me what to expect after rectocelel surgery. I am supposed to have it in about a month. Almost everything I've read so far has been negative. Thanks

I had an extensive rectocele surgery about 6 weeks ago, the pain is going away, I can still feel the muscles twinging as they recover but it is nothing severe. I can't tell you much beyond that yet, it hurt to sit down for about 4 weeks, make sure you don't sit up straight! My first bowel movement was excruciating, but I was still at the hospital so the pain meds were not far away! Also, I can recommend that you do everything possible to keep your movements regular. I started walking as soon as they would let me, that is what helped the most.
Good luck & Speedy Healing! ;-D

Hello, I am new to the site but am looking for help on an embarrassing situation. 10 years ago I had a cystocele and rectocele repair. I have 4 children, a set of triplets born by c-section they are 21 years old and a single birth born vaginally and she is 19 years old. I have had a cystocele repair already twice. I have so many problems with my bladder: frequent urination, dripping, emptying bladder, getting up at least 4 times a night. Now, in the last 2-3 months I believe the rectocele is back and bad. I am taking Ducolax 2-3 times a day. I just don't know can it come back or can you need it again??? Any advice or help on what I can do in the meantime. I am getting on a new ins. in Jan so cannot possibly do anything for 3 more months. Thanks for any insight into this situation

    Angry Rectocele?

Cheerio! I just found this site a few minutes ago. I admire rgamel & her struggles. Sure wish I could help! I am in a truly embarrassing situation and somewhat similar but I chose not to bring any children into the world, which was real stupid! Anyway, I heard that I had a rectocele from the urologist earlier this year & thought nothing about it. I am 57, and had a hysterectomy 10.5yrs ago with Burch bladderlift. I am minus ovaries BUT have a cervix. I keep feeling this weird sharp pain every so often when I walk along. It feels like there is an egg behind the vagina or something. I am really in trouble because I think all my doctors think I am nuts. No one could find anything so far. Had an abdominal CT scan with radioactive iodine in July, and cardiac stress test with radioactive Thalium this month (12/2010). My maternal grandpa died of intestinal cancer. (Never even met him.) My colonoscopy 8/08 was good. So, I am alone with this thinking I might have a hidden cervical tumor... or is it the rectocele???

    rgamel

sounds like you need to go see a urologist or better yet a urogynecologist. You may need a bladder sling.
