Hi, I have been having this personal problem in the time of the month subject. I was on the depo shot after my last child was born in 2002. i stayed on it till she was about 1 year 8 months. so I ahve been off the shot for about two years now. i never had my period after i got off the shot. but about 8 months ago i started to get it again but it was not the same. my periods are about between two to three weeks apart. and they last about two weeks long or more. I have seen my doctor but she sees no cause for concern. but i do and it bothers me really bad. its not normal to me because before my daughter even exsisted i got my time of the month every thirty days and they only lasted 4-5 days. i think somethings wrong with me could anyone give me any advice it would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Go and get a referal to a gyneo, if you bleed too often you are not ovulating. I have had the trouble with my monthly, it happens every 10 days, I was on the pill. I also had a shot of depo- provera years ago it caused me to bleed non stop for 8 months till i had a clean out. Go to a doc and get it sorted..

    Default Depo is bad!

I posted several times on this board about Depo. First of all, to address your concerns, it IS normal for your period to be abnormal for a very long time after Depo use. They say that Depo takes 1 year to leave your system, but the women who have used it know better. If you are LUCKY, the Depo will leave your system within one year. I was on Depo for 5 years with no period. I stopped taking it at age 20 because my hair was falling out, I had migraine headaches, and my immune system crashed (despite the fact that I should have been a healthy young woman). I did start slightly spotting after over a year, but nothing normal. My hair continued to fall out to the point that I had balled patches on my head. Of course, the doctors kept telling me they had no idea what was wrong with me. I stopped Depo when I decided to research on the net and found thousands of horror stories from women on Depo with the SAME EXACT symptoms. Anyway, over several years, my periods gradually changed from slight random spotting to really heavy, painful bleeding with thick clot looking stuff. Here it is, 7 years later and my period is regular and slowly easing up with time. My hair started to finally grow back after being off of Depo for about 5 years. Now I have these areas where the hair is thin and growing, but you would know if I pointed it out. Also, be aware that Depo causes Osteoporosis. This is a KNOWN FACT and is printed on the insert for Depo as required by the FDA.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to get back to normal except let time work it's magic. The doctors won't tell you anything because they are clueless. I already figured that out. Do a search on "depo side effects". All kinds of bad things come up. There is are at least two class action lawsuits that I know of against the makers of Depo. You will also find more horror stories of women on Depo.

I just created a web site that has more info on this too. I would love it if you would share your Depo story there. It's http://medicalnightmares.com You will also find the FDA notices about Depo on that site.

Good luck to you and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Depo can be a scary thing!

I started using depo when I was 17. I was never on it for more that 6 months since I had heard it wasnt something to stay with. Even only using it for such a short time ... I still had to wait a while to get my period and when I did get it .... it wasn't normal. Also .. they now make the pill that is similar to depo as it effects how many periods you get.

What you are dealing with sounds normal ... but definitely not healthy. In my experience and seeing the experience of people i know that had it .. just stick it out and in time you will go back to normal.
