Online games? I was addicted to Farmville on Facebook until it starting having so many technical problems :/

I've done scrapbooking.......... that was fun but you need a large space and it does take $$$................. I also did quilting.......... that also took a large space and a little less of the $$$ but still enough! hahaha

Then for a while I would just go to Michael's Crafts or Joannns and get some kind of fun craft kit and do it. But that was all in the before internet days................. these days the internet takes up any free time I have. I can truly say I'm adicted to social networking! Thats my new hobby................ bugging people! hahahahhahaha

I understand the need to do something during free time to clear you mind of everything! Would you consider something creative or crafty, knitting/sewing/painting/ceramics? Maybe there is a local tech school nearby that offers "enrichment courses."

I got sick of the couch-potato thing too so I checked out my local tech college and signed up for a knitting class (I start next week!). It's a 5 wk course and after that I hope to have the skills to go off and make some fantastic things on my own in my freetime. Granted the course is at the senior center, and I will probably be the ONLY person there born after the 1940's, but - it should be fun! I'm also planning on taking the ceramics course they offer over the summer.... If there is a college near you, there might be something offered there that sparks your interest.

Great ideas, the problem is I am a student. I am not willing, nor able to financially contribute to a certain hobby that will cost me my textbook money for next semester. I do however plan on picking up a cheap hobby like knitting when I am 60-70 so I can make booties and blankets for the grandkids lol.

I did go to a ceramics place here not long ago and painted an already made plaque thing for my mom. That made a few hours go by.

What about a hobby course on campus?
What you're paying for cable, you could be using on a hobby - remember!

Hobby "courses" here are single day things (at least what I have seen so far), like a cooking class will be $55 for 3 hours or something. I am definitely going to take a cooking class at some point though. Cooking, money permitted cause I like to make fancy things, is probably my favorite thing to do.
