Default Need a Hobby or Pastime

Well I have honestly been battling with this for awhile and I do not know what to do haha. Sounds silly but it is really taking a toll on me. I find myself just sitting on the couch watching mindless TV when I have free time, and that I do not like. I want something that I can do when I am not focusing on school, or when I am taking a study break to rest my mind for a bit. The problem is I cannot find anything to get interested in even a tiny bit to pass some time. So I am looking for ideas or suggestions. I have realized that it will be an uphill battle for me because the things that are common hobbies/pastimes for others, I simply cannot stand. Example: The gym, sports (all), and running/walking. Way too boring and I am certainly no fan of physical activity (my health is fine btw). What can I do?!

You have some intense courses it sounds like, why not something a little off the wall- even silly? Learn to make balloon animals? Or some clowning? There a people who do that and visits kids in hospitals or schools. What about a local theatre group? I'm thinking of something that would be outside your box and maybe open up another side of yourself.

Yeah I have some rough courses that eat me from the inside out it feels like haha. I have thought about doing something totally ridiculous but honestly I get frustrated when I am around people, and no patience with kids anymore (thanks to Mom's dayhome). I used to paint, and make model cars. No idea why I stopped, cause I liked the solitude and the peace and quiet that comes from that stuff. I wonder if there is more to the quiet type stuff other than reading, painting, and model making haha.

That's why I have a feeling you need something to develop your other side. Something that isn't so quiet or solitary. We all need balance. I've enjoyed making models and sewing. My kids and I like to do jig saw puzzles together.

Photography?

I love it, it's fun and relaxing. I enjoy just going along with my camera and taking random pictures, editing, etc.

Oh I tried the photography route, even used photoshop for awhile and that was cool. I was first introduced to photography in my high school technology elective and I decided to continue that out of school for something to do. Then I got bored because I never saw no amazement in pictures or lighting differences and such. I used to love making architectural drawings and designing homes using AutoCAD, I still do. Maybe I should just keep going with that. I would prefer to stay inside or around home rather than to have to deal with people though.

Having a degree in drafting that dates back the very beginning of CAD (autotrol 1000 as I recall) Why not try the old way? You can pick up old drafting table pretty cheap, get a cover for it (drawing stores sell them) some lead holders and leads, a lead pointer, T Square, angles, a few templates and try some real drafting and perspective drawing?

My boyfriend graduated from a drafting program so he could technically give me everything that I need. I still doodle little floor plans on my scrap paper when I get bored of school, I just wish I had the money to build my dream home! lol

Go dig around the library and look at Natural Home mag, Mother Earth News and Dwell. You can see some wonderful things that are being done in high efficiency, renewable building.

What about knitting? I really enjoyed teaching myself, I just ran out of time when I went to a full-time job. It's very quiet, you can even do it in front of the TV once you get good enough. It would be a good, cheap starter hobby. You can probably get going for under $15 at Walmart. I found the online videos showing the stitches much easier than the books, though.
