Hello Whit, I am also laid off (for the last 3 months!). I think exercising is a great thing to work into your daily routine. Since the holidays are coming up you can always volunteer at your local salvation army or homeless shelter, or you can pick a project like repainting a room a different color. Scrap booking is a great idea also! I have a hard time finding stuff to do too... it gets me a little depressed some days! But i do come on here quite a bit and try help other people and ask for advice whenever I need it.
~Today, any person can fight the battles of one day It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity's- yesterday and tomorrow, that we break down. It is not the experience of today that drives people mad. It is the remorse of bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.
Let us therefore, live but one day at a time.~

Get crafty! I leaned how to do Origami to keep myself from falling asleep at work and it's a lot of fun. You can find tons of how-to videos online. And the good thing is all you need is paper so it's not expensive. Plus if you get good enough at it you can give you creations as gifts. Learning how to make your own greeting cards is a lot of fun as well (and cheaper). Christmas is comming as well, start making you own christmas decorations, you can find the supplies at any crafts store or online. save-on-crafts is a really good site for finding things. I also really enjoy sewing. Take a sewing class, which is usually inexpensive or have someone you know teach you. You could make your own items like aprons, pillows, purses, curtains, and that's just the easy stuff. Learn some things that will be useful when your children come along, if you know how to sew that will be dead useful. As well as doing things youself is almost always thrifty. Also the food network is great. Learn how to make new dishes for you and your husband. Put all the other ladies in the family to shame lol. Start painting/planning your nursery room.

Exercise is wonderful. A brisk walk everyday can add years to your life, i'm convinced.

I think you have something right now that a lot of people (including myself) would kill for, and that's time. Make good use of it. It's so easy to flip on the television and sink there for hours without really doing anything. But the best thing to do is make yourself handy Be the woman who knows how to do things.

I should add that learning how to make things like quilts and wreaths can pull in extra money as well. Most people don't mind paying a couple hundred dollors for a well made quilt. The ladies at the local senior center make them to raffel off for charity and to sell for funding. You would have fun making these things and you can use them as inexpensive gifts. I would adore a good hand made quilt for a gift. Cloth purses are terribly easy to make and are inexpensive but make wonderful gifts. As well as aprons. When I started making Origami flowers and cranes and such everyone at work wanted something to put at their desks.

Hey!!! If I'm not busy working or cleaning or cooking (which I don't have to worry about because I live with my boyfriend and it's just us two) I always keep myself occupied with making mosaics. I love mosaics and you can create them into whatever you want. We live in a nice neighborhood with gardens everywhere and I was able to make a stone mosaic bench and a some mosaic stepping stone. For indoors I made several mosaic coasters and a mosaic candle holder and mosaic lamp shades. They can tend to get a little pricey but if you go to a place like menards or home depot, you can find huge bags of cement for a good price, and then just but stenciled trays and buy some mirrors, colorful glass plates and glass marbled things and smash them, and you can make wonderful creations!

Beading and jewelry making can be fun, but expensive. Ever try making soap? Or Candles? You can get basic supplies from fabric/ craft stores, even walmart I think. Writing? Learn to bake something new every day? I love reading too...
