Hi. I'd appreciate it if someone here wouldn't mind taking a look at these two comforters to make sure I'm not overlooking something that explains the $100 difference. Or even recommend something else entirely. I'm just looking for the nicest comforter (edited) I understand I'll be getting less value vs. online discounters, but I've also been disappointed buying sheets just based on thread count without opening them first, & this is a bigger investment. Also preferably the nicest machine washable I can find, which both these are. Because I.D.K. what a dry cleaner would even charge for a comforter, & I do have access to oversized machines myself.
Anyway, I can't figure out these two comforters. They're by the same make, with identical T.C.'s, same white goose down (?), both have true baffle box construction, "X-treme clean" washed & hypoallergenic, lifetime warranties etc.- the only difference I can see is 650 vs. 700 fill power- does it make sense for that alone to account for a $100 difference? In trying to educate myself on all the terminology, I understood F.P. was not necessarily the higher number the better quality, like thread count, but something that will vary by preference & climate since it determines how well it insulates. I crank my A.C. anyway when I sleep, so if it's only a matter of warmth, I'm going to take the cheaper one. You guys don't think it's a down of higher quality, or better feeling, longer lasting, or anything else I haven't considered, do you? Anything else you've seen in mall stores or the like with true baffles that you just LOVED, I'd like to hear about it too. I couldn't find dedicated home/bedding forums, & saw such topics posted here. I'm not a girl. Last edited by CHANDLERS WISH; 07-04-2009 at 02:39 AM. Reason: outbound links not allowed on this forum |

You can post the pictures if you wish without any brand name, unfortunately outbound links are not allowed on this Forum.

No probs.
Probably they cost the same to make to be honest bar $2... however, they will try to sell it for more because it seems to "offer more". Don't just check websites, visit stores as often the same thing almost is on sale and you can buy it even cheaper. Welcome to the Forum. CW
