A little more work, but if you use car wax on the glass and then buff it all off, the soap scum will not build back up.

READ THE LABELS....many of these items may scratch, etch, alter or do damage to your ACRYLIC doors.

I have a stand up shower that is fiberglass (I think) with a glass door. I also have a tub/shower combo where the tub is enamel that's been re-coated a second time with tile surround and glass doors.

I do three things with great success to keep them clean:

    1) I spray all the surfaces down with Tilex Bathroom, let it run down the surfaces for about 5 seconds

    2) then I use the tile and tub scrubber by Libman. It has a white handle and a green scrubbing pad that is about 4 x 6 inches

    3) then I rinse off all of the surfaces by pouring water over them.

HINTS: buy yourself a squeegie for each shower/tub that you have and place it inside or somewhere nearby. Squeegie off the surfaces after each use and you will slow the re-occurance of soap scum tremendously.

Libman is a manufacturer of all types of brooms, mops, scrubbers, etc. Their trademark colors are green for thier bristles, scrubber pads, etc. and red for their handles. They should be easy to find at your major home improvement stores or the store with the red target.

I ended up remodeling the entire bathroom, so now I have brand new doors to work with. The old acrylic ones I tried to get back to their glory days with the tips I received here, but they were so damaged they looked scummed up even when completely clean because of the etching over the years.

Now that I've got a fresh start so to speak, I've purchased a squeegy to use after every shower. I may also try the car wax trick! Stands to reason that it would work, I just need to get motivated enough to put in the elbow grease and do it!

The car wax trick does work and works beautifully for a while. However, I found that using the squeegie after every shower and Tilex Bathroom (specially designed to fight soap scum) once in a while, was a lot less work (for me).

Perhaps a combination of all three would be the ultimate. I assume that the Tilex would probably strip the wax off too, so you'd have to re-wax after using the Tilex Bathroom.

I recommended the Libman green scrubber because it's soft enough to not harm surfaces but tough enough to get the job done. You can buy "scrubbing pads" from your local dollar store that are cheap but very abrasive and I assume that they would really do damage to about anything. So, in this case, cheaper is not always better.

    Good luck.

Car wax...would never have thought of that, makes sense though, thanks

We did have sqeegees in each shower, but can't seem to get the kids to use them, and my littlest one (19 months) loves chewing the rubber lol
