Funny, I LOVE GARDENING and your right, not often does anyone start threads in that section...

I had already planned this, but 1/2 hr ago, I went and added to my garden, planting more

At the back, I have alot of palms, then I organised a small japanese garden, adding white stones, and a herb garden, miricle grow seriously has that going down, but there is also a tomato bush, peas, capsicums, and i also put in some potatoes for the first time on the opposite side and darn, they are growing

My front has 3 ponds, 1 tree in the middle and pigs ears, ground cover, rose bushes, perenials, pansies, lilies, gerbras, you name it, it's an oasis of all pinks, with a red and yellow (combined) rose bush, then a red and a yellow, and green everywhere, it's quite spectacular to walk out and look at...

I also added, $2 solar lights, from Cheap as Chips around the stairs to the front that may be an added thing you can do

I'll take pictures one day and post them haha.

Yesssss post pictures! Sounds so lovely! Interesting how a nicely planned garden can be so theuraputic too, not only to be in but to create. Do you have any ponds or little fountains? I'm a big fan of water for some reason (always gravitate toward little streams or rivers on my walks through NZ reserves).. wonder if there are any.. solar-powered miniature fountains (a chord to plug them in might be unsightly).

CW, that sounds amazing! I would love to see pics too ..

Mes, in the UK we can buy small water features which are battery powered for gardens.. Maybe you could get them in Nz?

Absolutely, 3 ponds in the front although I had a huge gum tree, I got rid of and before that, the leaves gathered (must clean them out) note to self..

I have an old home, huge, but it has a well, old pool I've created a bali type feel there and there is a large water feature of a woman, which I plug in to the pool filter, it's sweet, sounds great I sit there and read by it....

I shall take some photos and post

Your post reminded me of a song from your part of the world CW..

Kookabura sits in the old gum tree,
Merry merry king of the bush is he,
    Laugh Kookabura, Laugh Kookabura,
    Gay your life must be
