I dug a triangle shaped hole over the last year. It was going to be a nice sized pond/water garden. 8'x11' & almost 4 ft deep. I dug it all out with hand tools & the last foot was limestone. Had it all cleaned up & ready for the liner, then I changed my mind. I still made a pond & built up a little waterfall, but I burried a smaller preformed liner & used the rest of the space as more of a bog garden. As hot & dry as it gets here, I'm not sure how the bog garden part will do, buy so far so good. I've got my lilies split & didn't kill my lotus... yet, parrots feather, a couple different cannas, spider lilie & a leafy plant my brother gave me, he said it was called lacie tree

Lol. Let me know if you have any good tips for slugs. I was transplanting from the pot my brother gave me, & the bottom was full of em! Really gross. Lol. I can't believe I used to play with these when I was little. Ewwugghh!

Egg shells! Squish them up and put around plants. My father is an organic gardener and he swears by this, the shells are like glass to the little critters, so they stay away.

Great thread V, I love gardening. Currently only growing flowers as its a little too convienient to pop to dad's and pinch fruit and veg

I've just got a new rose bed in my garden, it's in a half moon shape. Hopefully next summer there will be lots of beautiful flowers in it!

My raised bed has a few mixed greens seedlings that somehow survived the cold snap (I planted in late march before the last frost date and boy was that stupid, but we were all lulled by the beautiful 50* weather the first half of the month...). Gotta re-seed. Also my garlic is up and my lemon balm, oregano and golden oregano are going like mad. The lavender over-wintered (I was so scared it wouldn't) and is small but healthy. So happy!

Next in are going to be the beans and tomatoes.

Anyone have a means to kill bindweed? It's taken over the yard and as much as I fight it, it keeps coming back. I have to go out once a week to yank new shoots of it I can't even toss the roots onto the compost heap because it'll root and spread in the pile! Apparently the best way is round-up, but I want to grow veggies in that yard and I don't dare round-up the plant when the roots probably make up half the mass of my lawn right now...

Today I planted 380some corn seeds (peaches and cream), bush zucchini, pickling cucumbers and slicing cucumbers, and spaghetti squash. Green beans go in tomorrow. Monday we will get our baby tomato and pepper plants, usually Big Boys and Romas, a cherry tomato plant, and for the peppers usually banana, hungarian hot, green bell, and a wax block. I have a pot of radishes and a pot of beans on the porch right now. Onions and potatoes have been in for a month now.

Ohhh how I just LOVE gardening!!!
