We originally met at my cousin's wedding - he was a groomsman. But we were just introduced and that was that. Oddly enough, I remember him being really tall though we are the same height (I think my brain may be combining his face with another groomsman who IS very tall).
Fast-forward 2 1/2 years. I live in Indiana, he lives in Michigan. My cousin and his wife were trying to set him up with a girl. He was interested, but she really wasn't. The four of them were going on a double-date. My cousin, his wife, and my now-husband were waiting for the girl to get there when my cousin said "You know...I think you should be interested in my cousin." He thought it was odd timing, but he did take a look at my Myspace and "liked what [he] saw" in his wordsMind you, I didn't know my cousin and his wife were trying to set us up.
So, he asked the girl they were trying to set him up with if it was going anywhere. She said no. And, in his words, "I was ok with her answer." He sent me an email on Myspace but I was, at the time, just beginning to date someone else. His email basically said "I'm looking for a wife and I think you're looking for a husband, so we should talk." I told him about the guy I was dating, but said I wanted to be friends. He's an all-or-nothing guy, so we didn't talk for 3 months.
After 3 months of me dating the previous guy, it didn't work out. Simply put, we just were not meant to be together at all. It was a situation where basically I knew he wasn't "the one"...but I kept wondering "what if I'm wrong?" Silly, I know.
So we broke up in September. There were no bitter feelings and I was over him essentially right away...and I had blogged about that. My now-husband had been reading my blog, so he emailed me again on Myspace and said "I know you are newly single and I don't wanna be one of those guys that instantly asks you out as soon as you're single...but I'm doing that." So, we emailed back and forth...which gradually turned into long phone calls.
One day, he just showed up at my door out of the blue with two roses! I was in my pjs...no make-up...just haggard lookingI was nervous, but normally I'd be embarrassed about being in my pjs, but I wasn't with him. I changed clothes and we went to lunch. He could only be in town for a few hours because he had to be back in Michigan for something. We talked and basically told each other we were interested in pursuing a relationship. He left for Michigan and for some reason, I was worried he thought I wasn't interested, so I called him and said "Just so you know...I am interested in you...I like you" and he said "I..I know". Haha.
And things just blossomed from there and we've been married for a little over a year now![]()
