You would receive medical benefits 100% covered if you went to a military base for medical treatment, and medications are 100% covered at the base pharmacy and usually at majority pharmacies. you would be able to shop on base at the commissary (grocery store, which is a lot cheaper), as well as the bx (or PX) Which is a store that carries a little bit of this and that (electronics, household items, clothes, furniture, jewery, etc...) Items are a little bit cheaper or about the same price BUT... you don't have to pay tax on items purchased there. you would also be eligible for base housing majority of the time you have to go on a waiting list depending on the availability of housing at the base your husband is stationed at. A lot of business' offer military discounts so always be sure to ask because a discount is a discount and every little bit helps.

I was a military brat for 17 yrs (my dad and step-dad) at the age of 17 I got married and my husband (now ex husband) was also in the military and we were married for 12 yrs. So I have lived it majority of my life.... My Dad, Stepdad and Ex were all in the Air Force but the benefits are pretty much standard throughout all military branches.

Why don't you go and visit a marine recruiting facility. Talk to a recruiter and see what they have to say. Or call your local state representatives office and ask for their help.

Marrying for the medical benefits isn't a reason to get married or not married and JadedQueen seems to have good first hand knowledge of them but why not try to put your mind at ease by talking to someone whose job it is to answer questions.

i dont trust recruiters, its their job to meet and qouta of people and theyll tell you just about anything to ease your mind. im not saying they lie, but they stretch the truth.

and im not marrying for benefits, there was talk of marriage before this decision.

Since your hubby to be is already in the military, all of the quota/recruiting concerns should be out the window.

If you're not comfortable with a recruiter then contact your local representative, congress person or senator's office.

Or just put your faith in what JadedQueen said, as she seems to have a pretty good knowledge based on her experience.
