Default Glad I found this forum!

Hi my screen name is Allie and I am here to work out some serious issues that have resurfaced in my life recently. I also love to butt in on other peoples problems and offer my perspective in what I hope is a constructive and helpful way. I think I have insight into other peoples problems but I can't seem to apply it to my problems and that's why I am here, to get help to see things in a different way so I can move forward.
In a way I feel like two people, one is reasonable and reflective and the other is crazy and angry. I am trying to quite the angry one and let the reflective one take over. Thanks to all the people who have been kind and giving to helping the crazy me calm down. I am certain that the crazy one will still post on hot button issues but bear with me, ill get there at some point, just don't know when.

Welcome back to posting, Allie. I know for me personally, when I read other peoples situations and post my opinions about their situation... it often gives me insight into my own life and feelings even if I am not directly affected by the posters concerns. I've learned its important not not interject other peoples problems into my own life where they do not apply. I've been triggered to be upset in my relationship after reading what some other woman is going through in hers and fearing its happening in my own. But for the most part I've learned to seperate what I read other people going through from my own fears in my own life.

And in doing so, I've grown and learned so much about myself and people in general by reading and responding here. I've found that I am not alone in a lot of my feelings and found other ways to see things that I never would have considered otherwise.

I think if you take it for what it is, a place to both vent, to offer support and seek it... Its a great experience to comfort others and find comfort for yourself along the way.
Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.

HP I feel better if I keep posting. I cannot believe you have the same reaction as I when you read about the problems woman have - the tendency to bring it back to your relationship. Some times I have to stop myself from reading if the subject is too close to my hot-button issues. I have to be real careful. What I have done is to try to see things from both sides (not possible in cases of physical and psychological or financial abuse). By working it out and writing it out it seems to become more real. There is usually two sides to every situation and a semi-dispassionate reader can sometimes help the person who is immersed in the problem reframe things. It helps me to apply some of the principles to my life. I know intellectually but hard to put things into action.

Great to see your back Allie...

Watch it though, the girls are right, this place is addictive
Do we not realise that in order to find a soul
    It doesn't happen over night
if truth were to be told.

Like everything in life that's hard to achieve
    you must believe!
